Requirements
  • 10+ years of product design experience, including significant experience owning complex, systems-level or platform work and setting design direction across multiple products or audiences.
  • Depth in both enterprise and consumer design, including building products for professional users with real workflows and constraints.
  • Experience designing professional platforms such as workspaces, dashboards, personalized feeds, and administration and permissions tooling.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strategic impact across multiple products or audiences, including platform or design-system contributions, cross-team pattern-setting, and strong end-to-end craft on sophisticated products.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, translate design strategy into business terms, and build alignment across teams with competing priorities.
  • Strong systems thinking and deep experience with design systems, including establishing patterns adopted and evolved by other teams.
  • Judgment about personalization and artificial-intelligence-assisted experiences, including when they help professional users, diminish trust, and how to design for them.
  • Excellence in Figma, with the ability to set standards for design communication, specifications, and documentation across teams.
  • Deep command of design fundamentals and accessibility compliance standards, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, with fluency in dense, information-rich interfaces.
  • A track record of mentoring designers and raising the craft and quality of surrounding teams.
  • Comfort operating amid ambiguity by setting direction during shifting priorities and emerging technology and serving as a go-to expert.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Design, human-computer interaction, or a comparable field.
Responsibilities
  • Own the design strategy for enterprise experiences and set a coherent, multi-year direction for how professional customers discover, read, and act on journalism, tied to measurable outcomes such as seat growth, engagement, renewal, and expansion.
  • Own the administration experience that powers the reader experience, including how organizations manage seats, assign content, and understand engagement across their teams.
  • Apply the Journal's standards of craft, including typography, information design, and attention to detail, to business environments and help define enterprise design quality at Dow Jones.
  • Shape strategy with senior design, product, and business leaders and other executives as needed, building partnerships across competing priorities.
  • Establish patterns in the Index Design System, including components, density, navigation, and permission-aware behavior for professional products.
  • Solve ambiguous problems involving professional workflows, trusted artificial-intelligence-assisted features, and personalization, creating approaches that other teams adopt.
  • Partner with Research and analytics to connect design decisions to engagement, retention, and revenue and help teams identify meaningful measures for professional products.
  • Mentor and grow senior designers across professional and consumer brands, shape design culture, and strengthen the talent pipeline through established standards and shared craft.
  • Report to the Senior Vice President of Product Design within the Design & Research organization.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing business-to-business information services, professional intelligence, or research platforms.
  • Familiarity with entitlements, seat management, or permissions models at enterprise scale.
  • Experience shipping artificial-intelligence-assisted production features such as summarization, recommendation, or generative content.
  • Background in news media, publishing, or other content-heavy products.
  • Experience designing across a multi-brand portfolio.
  • Experience contributing productively to a design system.
  • Experience partnering with external research, brand, or design agencies.
  • Working knowledge of financial services, consulting, or other professional-services industries.
  • An external presence through speaking or writing about design at scale.
  • International or cross-cultural design experience.
