Blackbaud Expands AI Leadership with Platform for Good(TM) and Lantern(TM) at bbcon 2026.

Blackbaud Expands AI Leadership with Platform for Good(TM) and Lantern(TM) at bbcon 2026. October 1, 2026 As organizations face growing demands and limited capacity, Blackbaud introduces new connected operating system and fundraising-specific language model to ensure the social impact sector gets the best outcomes from AI Columbus, Ohio (October 1, 2026) - Blackbaud (NASDAQ: BLKB), the world's leading provider of AI-powered solutions for social impact, brought together thousands of nonprofit, education, corporate social responsibility, and philanthropy professionals at bbcon 2026 to explore how connected data, purpose-built AI, and intelligent action can help organizations expand capacity and accelerate impact. Conference attendees were the first to hear about Blackbaud's Platform for Good(TM), a connected foundation designed to bring together data, intelligence, workflows, AI, and partners across the Blackbaud ecosystem. Built beneath the solutions organizations already use, Platform for Good is designed to help customers identify opportunities faster, make more informed decisions, and act with greater confidence. Blackbaud also made a splash unveiling Lantern(TM), the first domain-specific language model purpose-built to optimize fundraising intelligence. Built through a strategic collaboration with Databricks, Lantern brings more than four decades of Blackbaud's fundraising expertise, data, and context, to reflect real world patterns and the unique complexity of fundraising. Embedded in the Intelligence Layer, Lantern will power tailored intelligence directly where customers already work. "Last year, we introduced a vision for how AI could help social impact organizations work smarter," said Mike Gianoni, president, CEO and vice chairman of the board of directors of Blackbaud. "At bbcon 2026, we focused on what happens next: bringing together connected data, purpose-built intelligence, trusted expertise, and secure AI experiences into the workflows organizations use every day. The opportunity isn't simply to add AI to existing processes. It's to help organizations unlock more capacity, make better decisions, and ultimately drive greater impact." The company also showcased a broad portfolio of innovations across fundraising, finance, education, marketing, and giving, including and expanded lineup of Agents for Good(TM), connected finance experiences, and new ecosystem partnerships. Together, these innovations demonstrated how technology can help organizations spend less time navigating complexity and more time advancing their missions. "bbcon 2026 was a great experience, from the exciting announcements on the mainstage, to the breakout sessions and personal connections made," said Michelle Edgerton, executive vice president and chief advancement officer, YMCA of the North. "I've been a Blackbaud user for more than 25 years now, and my team trusts the solutions to power our daily work. I'm particularly excited for the enhancements coming to Raiser's Edge NXT, which keeps getting better, and for the intelligence that Lantern will bring, allowing us to surface better insights so that we can focus on raising the funds we need to best serve our communities. Who better than Blackbaud to deliver this social impact specific innovation?" Industry leaders share perspectives on AI and the future of social impact. In addition to product innovation, bbcon 2026 featured conversations with technology leaders, customers and sector experts focused on responsible AI adoption and organizational transformation. Day two keynote speaker Priya Lakhani, founder and CEO of CENTURY Tech and a leading voice on AI, innovation, and ethics, spoke about the importance of responsible and intentional AI adoption. She then joined a leadership panel alongside Carrie Cobb, chief data and AI officer at Blackbaud, Renee Ducre, chief information officer at UNCF, and Tim Cerato, assistant vice president of constituent relationship management at Boston University. Moderated by Stephanie Mehta, chief executive officer and chief content officer of Mansueto Ventures, publisher of Inc. and Fast Company, the panel explored lessons learned, implementation strategies and practical approaches to AI adoption. The conference concluded with a fireside conversation featuring Tony and Grammy Award-Winning Leslie Odom, Jr., who joined Blackbaud leaders to discuss creativity, resilience, change leadership and the role of purpose in driving meaningful progress. Celebrating excellence across the Social impact community. A hallmark of every bbcon is celebrating the organizations and individuals creating meaningful change in communities around the world. Blackbaud envisions a future where resources are unleashed at the speed of need. By bringing together social impact leaders, technology innovators, and mission-driven organizations from around the world, bbcon continues to serve as a forum for learning, collaboration, and shared inspiration around what's possible for the future of the sector. Blackbaud unveils Lantern, first AI language model purpose-built for fundraising

Blackbaud has unveiled Lantern, the first domain-specific language model purpose-built for fundraising. Developed in collaboration with Databricks, Lantern addresses a gap where 85% of social impact professionals use AI, but only about 10% of organisations see significant returns. The model is trained on more than 40 years of fundraising data and Blackbaud's Social Impact Signal Graph. Unlike general-purpose AI models that learn from the internet, Lantern is designed to understand giving behaviour, donor dynamics, and nonprofit priorities specific to philanthropy. Blackbaud processes over $100 billion raised, granted, or managed through its platforms annually. Lantern will be integrated into Blackbaud's Platform for Good, with initial deployment planned for Raiser's Edge NXT and Agents for Good capabilities in 2027.

Blackbaud unveils Platform for Good, social impact sector's first unified operating system

It incorporates embedded risk management and responsible AI practices whilst remaining extensible through a partner network. The announcement was made at bbcon, Blackbaud's annual customer conference. According to CEO Mike Gianoni, the platform builds on last year's shift from systems of record to intelligent action systems, creating an operating system that learns from interactions and improves with use. Customers can adopt new capabilities as they become available whilst continuing to use existing Blackbaud products and workflows. The platform aims to help organisations identify growth opportunities and expand capacity.

BILL and Blackbaud Partner to simplify vendor payments for nonprofit and education finance teams.

BILL and Blackbaud Partner to simplify vendor payments for nonprofit and education finance teams. September 29, 2026 Partnership embeds BILL's business payments network and payment-processing capabilities into Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT(R) Payment Assistant(TM) SAN JOSE, Calif., and CHARLESTON, S.C. - September 29, 2026 - BILL (NYSE: BILL), the intelligent financial operations platform trusted by nearly half a million businesses to manage, move, and maximize their money, and Blackbaud (NASDAQ: BLKB), the world's leading provider of AI-powered solutions for social impact, today announced a new strategic partnership to simplify the accounts payable process for nonprofit and education finance teams. Accounts payable remains one of the most manual and time-consuming responsibilities for many finance teams. According to the Institute of Financial Operations and Leadership's Accounts Payable Automation Trends 2025 report, nearly half of organizations spend 10 or more hours each week processing invoices and administering payments. For nonprofit and education finance teams already balancing limited resources, every hour spent re-keying an invoice or chasing down an approval is time that could be spent supporting their organizations' missions. Payment Assistant(TM), powered by BILL, the new experience for Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT(R) customers, will embed BILL's business payments network and payment-processing capabilities into Blackbaud's automated accounts payable workflow. This will support nonprofit finance teams from invoice and approval through payment and reconciliation, all in one connected system, built on Blackbaud's Platform for Good(TM). More Time for Mission, Less Time on Manual Work Payment Assistant uses intelligent automation to bring together tiered approvals, payment tracking, and straight-through reconciliation, so finance teams spend less time chasing signatures and re-keying invoices and more time advancing their organization's mission. With BILL's capabilities embedded in Payment Assistant, Financial Edge NXT customers gain access to BILL's proprietary network of 9 million businesses, helping simplify vendor enrollment and accelerate vendor payments without leaving the system they already trust. "Finance teams should not have to choose between an efficient payments experience and the systems they trust to run their organizations," said Jonathan Leaf, Chief Revenue Officer of BILL. "As the intelligent financial operations platform trusted by nearly 500,000 businesses, BILL is bringing that same scale and expertise to the social impact sector. Together with Blackbaud, we're helping nonprofit and education finance teams reduce manual work, safeguard every payment, and spend less time on process and more time on purpose." Sudip Datta, Chief Product Officer of Blackbaud, added, "Finance teams in the nonprofit and education sectors need connected systems that remove friction from essential work without taking control away from the people responsible for it. This partnership is part of Blackbaud's broader connected-finance vision, bringing data, workflows, intelligent assistance, and partner capabilities together within the systems social impact organizations use every day. As we continue to invest in AI-powered financial management and work with best-in-class providers like BILL, we are helping customers address critical operational workflows from donation to disbursement with greater clarity, capacity and control." The partnership is designed to give Financial Edge NXT customers: * Expanded vendor payment options through BILL's business payments network * Simpler vendor enrollment and payment setup * Faster vendor payment delivery across supported payment methods * Real-time payment visibility and streamlined reconciliation within their financial management workflow * Tiered approvals and controlled payment processes The new capabilities are planned for a phased rollout, beginning with an early adopter program and progressing to limited availability for U.S.-based Financial Edge NXT customers. Initial availability will support domestic vendor payments only. Additional access and timing details will be shared as the rollout progresses. As part of the broader partnership, BILL has also joined the Blackbaud Partner program, with additional integrations between the two platforms coming soon.
