About the job

Requirements
  • 7–10 years of experience in B2B SaaS marketing, including substantial experience in field marketing, event marketing, or integrated demand generation.
  • Experience running international marketing programs, including programs in the United States.
  • Experience defending event budgets with quantitative results and discontinuing events that do not deliver sufficient value.
  • Ability to negotiate sponsorship contracts, write event invitation emails, and build HubSpot dashboards or reports, or coordinate their creation.
  • Ability to establish credibility with account executives, participate in pipeline reviews, and address questions about event spending with data.
  • Understanding of what makes events memorable and worth attending.
  • Comfort marketing to a technical audience of engineers and engineering leaders, including understanding why developer-audience marketing can fail when it is overly polished.
  • Ability to create processes, identify problems early, and independently determine what to build next.
  • Willingness to travel approximately one or two weeks per quarter, potentially increasing to one week per month during peak conference season.
Responsibilities
  • Own the global event calendar by selecting industry tradeshows and conferences, determining participation levels and rationale, and managing sponsorship negotiation, booths, staffing, messaging, budgets, and on-site execution end to end.
  • Design and execute side events around conferences, including curated dinners, executive roundtables, breakfast briefings, and happy hours, with guest lists focused on target accounts.
  • Design and run GitBook-owned events such as roadshows, customer summits, docs-focused meetups, and launch events, including the format, content arc, and attendee experience.
  • Partner with Developer Relations on hackathons, documentation sprints, and community events, treating them as experiments with clear evaluation of results.
  • Run or coordinate online events including webinars, virtual roundtables, and livestreams.
  • Define the event tiering model, including spend bands, staffing, pre-event and post-event processes, and qualification criteria for each tier.
  • Build an event measurement model covering cost per opportunity, event-sourced and event-influenced pipeline, target-account attendance, and conversion through closed won.
  • Build a sales follow-up motion, including pre-event target lists with account executives, event briefings, and post-event structures that turn badge scans into conversations.
  • Act as an account-based marketing partner to Sales and Marketing on account selection, buying-committee mapping, and integrating field programs with one-to-one and one-to-few plays.
  • Deliver a tiered event calendar for the next four quarters, a working measurement model in the customer relationship management system, and a sales-approved follow-up motion within the first 90 days.
  • Drive event-sourced and event-influenced pipeline, cost per opportunity by tier, target-account penetration at Tier 1 events, and follow-up speed.
  • Work hands-on at conferences and manage post-event analysis and follow-up.

About the company

GitBook is a documentation platform that helps teams create and manage both internal and external documentation. It started as an open-source tool for developers and now offers a suite of collaboration features and a docs-as-code workflow to streamline technical content. The product works by providing a centralized environment where teams author, organize, and publish docs, with AI-powered search and editing to quickly find information and maintain high-quality content, and a Git-based workflow that lets documentation live alongside code. What sets GitBook apart is its focus on developer-friendly collaboration, integration with existing Git workflows, and a broad use case range from product docs to internal knowledge bases and API docs, all offered on a subscription model with plans for individuals, small teams, and enterprises. The company’s goal is to simplify and scale technical documentation and knowledge management for teams of all sizes.
