Requirements
  • Three or more years of experience in general engineering construction.
  • A bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or construction management, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels internally and externally.
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid or similar estimating programs.
  • Competence in computer software applications including Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software and AGTEK or similar earthwork programs.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to review and address technical issues with solutions in a timely manner.
  • Time management, multitasking, and prioritization.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of office and construction site environments, including standing, walking, crawling, bending, reaching, climbing, and occasional lifting of 5–20 pounds.
  • Ability to comply with CMMC, Federal Acquisition Regulation, and Accounting Standards requirements in federal efforts.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare designated bid tasks, cost estimates, and proposals in accordance with company values and strategic plans.
  • Review and analyze plans, specifications, schedules, milestones, permitting requirements, and contractual obligations for incorporation into estimates.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using computer-aided tools.
  • Compute production-based cost estimates in HCSS Heavy Bid software following estimating protocols.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for assigned items.
  • Assist in developing bid documents, construction schedules, and proposals.
  • Solicit, analyze, and enter material supplier and subcontractor quotes into bid software.
  • Prepare proposal clarifications, inclusions, and exclusions.
  • Consult with vendors and subcontractors to confirm scope.
  • Compare and validate quotes for coverage.
  • Attend pre-bid site visits.
  • Support the transition of successful projects to Operations.
  • Help recruit and develop the estimating team.
  • Build relationships with clients, communities, and partners.
  • Follow estimating procedures to win work.
  • Maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and prioritize safety.
  • Develop expertise across multiple work types, including earthwork, underground pipe, and concrete.
  • Travel to project locations and Area Offices as needed.
