Requirements
  • Graduation from a certified Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse program.
  • An active Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license in good standing.
  • Maintenance of continuing education credits required by the Board of Licensure and organizational needs.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.
  • Ability to provide health and tuberculosis clearance.
  • Licensure in good standing and adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in point-of-care testing.
  • Understanding of the clinical benefits and limitations of urine screens, toxicology, and other testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of how to recognize and manage an opioid overdose.
  • Basic computer and software experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to make judgments in demanding situations, listen empathetically, logically organize details, manage multiple concurrent activities, and communicate effectively.
  • Commitment to respectful patient- and family-centered care, respectful treatment of colleagues, patient confidentiality, and patient safety.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, keyboarding, handling materials, reaching, repetitive typing and data entry, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of a qualified professional nurse or Clinic Medical Director.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care within the clinic's objectives, standards, and policies.
  • Use a multidisciplinary approach to care for patients.
  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients.
  • Share responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in the clinic setting.
  • Participate in case conferences and share knowledge, information, and ideas among team members.
  • Record information concisely, accurately, and completely.
  • Order medical supplies, maintain proper inventory, and record use in accordance with regulations.
  • Administer or dispense medications and vaccines in accordance with applicable regulations and policy.
  • Ensure that treatment plans are followed.
  • Administer and interpret the Mantoux test.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and medication dosage or interactions.
  • Maintain medical records, including individual charts, daily medication charts, dosage records, progress notes, and doctor's orders.
  • Notify patients of laboratory results at the direction of the provider.
  • Submit referrals for specialized care at local health centers and follow up on patients' attendance and treatment.
  • Assist in organizing transfers of patients to and from the program.
  • Assist in training staff in medical matters and patient care.
  • Attend professional meetings as required.
  • Assist the Physician during physical examinations.
  • Maintain the dispensing room and medical equipment.
  • Dispense medications and maintain records for controlled substances.
  • Analyze and evaluate situations and adopt effective courses of action.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Active American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Two years of recent or previous work experience in a substance use disorder setting.
