Responsibilities
Assist with implementing the Project Specific Health, Safety, and Environmental Plan.
Assist with implementing safe work practices, work plans, and job hazard analyses.
Maintain working knowledge of the company's health, safety, and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.
Perform at least one health, safety, and environmental worksite inspection per week.
Provide project personnel with information regarding applicable regulatory requirements.
Monitor compliance with personal protective equipment requirements.
Assist with worker orientations.
Assist with implementing and monitoring the Task Hazard Analysis Program.
Assist with developing and communicating statistical health, safety, and environmental information.
Conduct project-specific inspections and complete the related documentation.
Report health, safety, and environmental infractions.
Monitor and document implementation of required corrective measures.
Assist with investigating and documenting health, safety, and environmental incidents.
Assist with reviewing health, safety, and environmental reports for accuracy and completeness.
Assist with preparing, implementing, reviewing, and communicating project-specific emergency procedures.
Attend project- or department-specific meetings.
Conduct observations and Task Hazard Analysis audits.
Assist with implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental program compliance and effectiveness.
Assist with project training.

This is a summer internship position ONLY for 2027.
Summary/Objective

Essential Functions

Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Time in the field is essential and will make up 80% of the intern’s time with the other 20% spent in the office performing computer work along with assisting with training.

This is a part-time nonexempt position.
Travel
