Requirements
  • Ten years of manufacturing experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • A strong commitment to high environment, health, and safety standards and Manufacturing Excellence.
  • A deep technical understanding of the MMA plant's chemical process, unit operations, and logistics processes, in addition to managerial and leadership skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of industrial engineering theory and practice, personnel and labor relations, accounting principles, plant maintenance, materials handling, safety and environmental regulations, OSHA Process Safety Management, and EPA Risk Management Plan requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and control the operation of a multi-unit, high-hazard chemical manufacturing facility regulated by multiple local, state, and federal agencies and laws.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to senior management and communicate effectively with shop-floor employees.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong background in continuous improvement, Lean, and chemical manufacturing.
Responsibilities
  • Manage operations of the MMA plant in compliance with regulatory and company requirements while protecting the safety and health of employees and the community.
  • Plan and manage plant operations and logistics to achieve on-time output that satisfies sales and operations planning objectives and customer requirements within approved budget expenditures.
  • Develop and prioritize tactical plans with Maintenance, Engineering, Sales and Operations Planning, and Commercial groups.
  • Drive implementation of Manufacturing Excellence processes and systems to shape and achieve the site's strategic goals and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the Operations team has the skills, tools, and information needed to operate the plant safely and reliably by implementing training systems and documented procedures, standard operating conditions, safe work practices, and standards.
  • Ensure the team executes its responsibilities with a high degree of operational discipline.
  • Optimize employee-management relations to support a positive work environment, high employee engagement, and a strong safety culture.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs by reviewing and directing staff activities in safety, production, shipping, receiving, product quality, planning and scheduling, and maintenance.
  • Maintain and improve the company's favorable image in the community and encourage participation in community activities.
  • Provide support to the operating team during irregular hours in a dynamic, continuous 24/7 operation.
