Requirements
  • Completion of a 2½-year Surface Grinding Apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • U.S. citizenship or the ability to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to work on-site.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, or kneel for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted with control.
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level and maintain hand dexterity for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hands to handle tools, controls, and precision components.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, ear protection, and safety shoes.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect parts prior to grinding to identify chips, cracks, or defects.
  • Set up and operate manual surface grinding equipment to tight tolerances.
  • Verify workpiece dimensions against blueprints and specifications.
  • Inspect parts received from other departments for accuracy and quality.
  • Review blueprints and identify inconsistencies or potential issues.
  • Fixture parts and develop manufacturing methods for complex components.
  • Diagnose and correct equipment or process issues using prior experience and test tools.
  • Provide input on process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Accurately record job times and production data.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
