Oklahoma City in 'active conversations' with Buc-ee's about opening state's first location.

Oklahoma City in 'active conversations' with Buc-ee's about opening state's first location. Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt announced Tuesday that leaders are in "active conversations" with Buc-ee's about opening the state's first-ever location. By: KJRH Web Staff Posted 9:29 AM, Sep 29, 2026 and last updated 13 minutes ago OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt announced Tuesday that leaders are in "active conversations" with Buc-ee's about opening the state's first-ever location. Holt's announcement said the Buc-ee's would be located at Interstate 40 and Cimarron Road in West Oklahoma City. With more than 50 locations in the United States, Buc-ee's has built a major following off of its clean bathrooms, plethora of gas pumps and grab-and-go food options. Holt said new infrastructure will be necessary to bring Buc-ee's to Oklahoma. Tuesday, Oklahoma City Council approved an agreement with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the development company associated with Buc-ee's. "Though work lies ahead, we look forward to the opportunity to welcome Buc-ee's to OKC!" Holt said.

When first Buc-ee's in Kansas will open after speedy construction. Topeka Capital-Journal Sept. 29, 2026, 4:07 a.m. CT Workers must have been busy as beavers constructing Buc-ee's first Kansas location. That would explain why that site, which was initially expected to open in October 2027, is now on track to start doing business earlier than that. "Now expected to open Spring/2027," said a message posted Sept. 26 on the Facebook page of the Kansas City, Kansas, location for Buc-ee's, a popular convenience store and gas station brand that has a friendly beaver as its mascot. The message was accompanied by video showing what's been built so far at what will become Buc-ee's first Kansas travel center. The site is adjacent to Legends shopping center and Kansas Speedway near 110th and Village West Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas. Buc-ee's Kansas site is hiring. Buc-ee's announced earlier this month it had begun the process of hiring employees to work at the new location. "Positions are for managers as of right now," said a message posted Sept. 9 on the Buc-ee's Kansas City Facebook page. Buc-ee's is specifically seeking to fill six positions at this point, said a message posted Sept. 21 on that page. The company's website identified those as being jobs for the following: * An assistant general manager, which pays $125,000 a year. * An assistant deli/food service manager, which pays $37 an hour. * A night manager, which pays $33 an hour. * A grocery/warehouse manager, which pays $33 an hour. * A janitorial/cleaning and maintenance manager, which pays $33 an hour. * A human resources field representative, which pays $27 an hour. Travel center construction project expected to cost $95 million. The project is expected to cost about $95 million. It remains in progress. The project will create one of the world's largest gas stations, encompassing 74,000 square feet while offering 120 fueling sites and 12 electrical vehicle charging stations. The world's largest gas station is the Buc-ee's at Luling, Texas, which encompasses 75,593 feet, according to the Buc-ee's website. What makes Buc-ee's popular? A Texas-based chain founded in 1982 by CEO Arch "Beaver" Aplin III, Buc-ee's operates 57 travel plazas, located mostly in the southern U.S. The chain has gained popularity for its entertaining billboards, mall-like size, pristine restrooms, barbecue sandwiches, various other food offerings and quirky, beaver-themed merchandise. Customers can find locations through Buc-ee's store locator on its website. Currently, the closest Buc-ee's to Topeka is located in Springfield, Missouri. Buc-ee's to open another store this year, 6 more in 2027: What to know.

Buc-ee's to open another store this year, 6 more in 2027: What to know. by: Addy Bink Posted: Sep 19, 2026 / 11:20 AM MDT Updated: Sep 19, 2026 / 02:38 PM MDT (NEXSTAR) - While there have been hints about where Buc-ee's will (and won't) expand to next, work continues to bring Beaver Nuggets and brisket to communities in at least one dozen states. For some, it will be the first time Buc-ee's has opened its doors in their state. Buc-ee's has opened four travel centers so far this year: Ohio's first-ever Buc-ee's opened in April, the company's westernmost location in June, and two spots in August. Six locations are slated to open in 2027, with more expected in 2028 and beyond. Here's where: After celebrating the opening of its first-ever Buc-ee's in August, Arkansas now awaits its second location in West Memphis. Buc-ee's says that location is scheduled to open in 2029. A proposed location in Tallahassee awaits final approval from county leaders, according to local reporting. The final site plan for a travel center in Port Charlotte received approval earlier this month despite pushback from local residents, according to WBBH. A store in Fort Pierce that was originally slated for 2027 will instead aim to open in 2028, a company spokesperson told local outlet WPEC. A future location is also in the works in Ocala, slated for a 2029 opening. Construction began on a store in Forsyth in March. It could open as early as next year, and will be the state's fourth location. After commissioners in Greenwood expressed interest in an additional traffic study earlier this year, the state's first-ever Buc-ee's is still awaiting final approval, according to local reporting. A location in Whitestown was also said to be under consideration, the Indianapolis Business Journal previously reported. The state's inaugural Buc-ee's location is expected to open in Kansas City. Job postings for the store online show it is on track to open in spring 2027. Work continues in the area in which Buc-ee's expects to open a location in Oak Grove, along the Kentucky-Tennessee border, sometime in 2029. A location in Ruston could open in spring of 2027, according to local officials. If that's the case, it would be the first Buc-ee's in Louisiana. Work continues on another location in Lafayette, but Buc-ee's says this store won't open until 2028. Earlier this summer, Buc-ee's received approval on incentives for a local in Gretna, an important step in the construction process. An official groundbreaking could be held for the site next year, according to local outlet KETV. North Carolina Construction began on the state's inaugural Buc-ee's in Mebane earlier this year, with an online job posting suggesting the store could open in fall of 2027. City officials in Mansfield earlier approved a plan for Buc-ee's to begin construction, and the Texas company's land purchase for the site was completed in August, according to local reports. South Carolina Work continues on a store in Hardeeville, according to local reporting. Buc-ee's says it is slated for a 2031 opening. A store is opening in Murfreesboro on Nov. 16, a Buc-ee's spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar. Another location in Gallaway is scheduled to open in fall of 2027. Another Buc-ee's is set to come to Texas, with a location in Boerne scheduled to open next year. A location in Springville is reportedly still expected. Buc-ee's has received the necessary approval for a location in Stafford County, while officials recently gave a location in New Kent County a 2029 deadline. That can be adjusted if there are construction delays, according to local reporting. Construction began on what could be the northernmost Buc-ee's store in Oak Creek, just south of Milwaukee, in mid-July. An agreement reached with the city last month stipulates that work is complete by August 2028, according to local outlet WITI. According to Buc-ee's, it takes about 18 to 24 months to build a travel center once construction begins. As of September, Buc-ee's is in 14 states. Aside from the locations listed above, there may be some other states the chain has its eyes on. At the grand opening of the Buc-ee's in Benton, Arkansas, founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin III implied that conservative-led states may remain the focus of the chain's growth. "We have a lot of opportunities, we're growing, we're building in a lot of places, but when you find a conservative, business-friendly state with a phenomenal workforce, it makes a difference," said Aplin while addressing the crowd. "I'm starting to realize life's too short to try to build in places that people don't appreciate what you're bringing, versus a place like this where people do appreciate what you're building," he continued. "So that leadership, that concept, that idea of conservative, business-friendly, family-oriented concept, works so much better if it trickles down from the very leadership from the top ..." Aplin went on to reference Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and lawmakers from the state, and acknowledged the chain is considering additional stores in Arkansas. As of September, only one-third of the states that Buc-ee's is building in have a Democratic governor.

Buc-ee's awarded $850,000 in trademark infringement settlement.

Buc-ee's awarded $850,000 in trademark infringement settlement. Plus, see where 2 other lawsuits with the convenience-store retailer stand By Hannah Hammond on Sep. 16, 2026 Buc-ee's has settled two of three trademark infringement lawsuits that it filed in May 2025. Buc-ee's Buc-ee's has settled two of three trademark infringement lawsuits that it filed in May 2025. The mega-convenience-store retailer last year filed lawsuits against Owl & Anchor, Born United and Prometheus Esoterica Inc. In each of the lawsuits, Buc-ee's argued that the defendants' merchandise features graphics "confusingly similar" to the convenience-store chain's beaver logo and the companies are profiting from it. Here's an update on where those lawsuits landed. Born United. Buc-ee's and Born United decided to settle their dispute, according to court documents filed Aug. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, Charleston Division. U.S. District Judge David C. Norton signed the settlement on Aug. 19, court documents show. As part of the settlement, Born United must not use Buc-ee's beaver logo or any other mark or name that is "confusingly similar" to the beaver logo. Born United and its entities must pay Buc-ee's $850,000 in damages for trademark infringement, false designation of origin, unfair competition and unjust enrichment, according to the settlement. Goose Creek, South Carolina-based Born United sells clothing and other merchandise with patriotic themes and slogans. The company sold short- and long-sleeved shirts in various colors and patch emblems depicting Buc-ee's logos (pictured below, courtesy of court documents). Buc-ee's said the company continued to sell these items even after receiving a cease-and-desist letter. Prometheus Esoterica Inc. Buc-ee's and Prometheus Esoterica Inc. also reached a settlement, according to court documents filed June 25 in the U.S. District Court of Middle District of Florida, Orlanda Division. The companies filed a joint motion for entry of consent judgement, asking a judge to approve their settlement agreement. Prometheus must not use the Buc-ee's logo or name, or any that may be confusingly similar, in the future, according to the settlement that was filed in June. The Orlando, Florida-based based company operates what it describes as an "oddities shop" and "gothic boutique" selling macabre-themed merchandise and apparel. Buc-ee's alleges the company has sold T-shirts and decals featuring the Buc-ee's beaver logo without authorization. Owl & Anchor. On June 2, a clerk for the District of Arizona Court entered default against Owl & Anchor LLC, meaning the company failed to respond or appear in court to defend themselves. Owl & Anchor, based in San Tan Valley, Arizona, operates a merchandise store that sells stickers, patches, stencils and custom-printing services for consumers to purchase on its website and Etsy store. Some of Owl & Anchor's products feature Buc-ee's beaver logo, Buc-ee's claimed. Buc-ee's, as well as attorneys for Owl & Anchor, Born United and Prometheus Esoterica Inc., could not immediately be reached for comment. Buc-ee's frequently goes after businesses for alleged trademark infringement. In August, it sued a mini mart based in Ohio over alleged trademark infringement. Buc-ee's opened its first Ohio travel center in April in Huber Heights. * Buc-ee's is No. 122 on CSP's 2026 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. Lake Jackson, Texas-based Buc-ee's has more than 50 stores across Florida, Texas, Missouri, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Virginia, Ohio, Colorado and Arizona. More are under construction in states including Arkansas, North Carolina, Louisiana and Kansas, according to court documents. Hannah Hammond is executive editor at CSP.
