Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in power electronics packaging and electromechanical systems is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Ansys, or similar computer-aided design and finite element analysis tools is required.
  • Strong knowledge of electromechanical components and mechanical housing fabrication, including sheet metal, weldments, and fasteners, is required.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems and bill of materials management is required.
  • Strong documentation skills are required.
  • The ability to distill complex technical topics into actionable insights is required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills are required.
  • The candidate must be an energetic, adaptable, and self-motivated problem solver.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical design and packaging of Spellman products.
  • Participate in design reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure fit, function, and compliance.
  • Create and validate designs using AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, and Ansys.
  • Perform engineering calculations for mechanical and thermal stresses.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality to optimize designs for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability using design-for-excellence principles.
  • Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation, including two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings, bills of materials, and specifications.
  • Support continuous improvement and upgrades to existing product lines.
  • Mentor and support Mechanical Engineers during new product development projects.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing, sales, and customers from concept through prototype validation and production ramp-up.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with casting and plastic molding is a plus.
