Requirements
  • A high school diploma and/or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • Graduation from a New York State-accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification is preferred, including National Healthcareer Association, American Medical Technologists, American Association of Medical Assistants, or National Center for Competency Testing certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required through in-person American Heart Association training.
  • Strong clinical skills in phlebotomy and aseptic technique are required.
  • One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
  • Commitment to respectful, quality patient care and effective teamwork is required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare exam rooms by sanitizing them, stocking supplies, and ensuring medications and vaccines are ready.
  • Review upcoming appointments and identify gaps in care, including mammograms, colonoscopies, and immunizations.
  • Escort patients to rooms and manage patient flow to maximize efficiency.
  • Take and record vital signs, patient history, allergies, medications, and current concerns.
  • Assist with procedures, including electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, and in-office testing.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens and track and document results.
  • Perform quality control on equipment and testing materials.
  • Provide front-desk support as needed by greeting patients, answering phones, and verifying insurance.
  • Collaborate with providers and the care team to support patient outcomes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current Medical Assistant certification from the National Healthcareer Association, American Medical Technologists, American Association of Medical Assistants, or National Center for Competency Testing.
