About the Job

Requirements

  • Senior experience architecting cloud data platforms, preferably on Microsoft Fabric or a comparable platform such as Databricks and Synapse.
  • A prototyping mindset, with experience testing ideas quickly, learning from failures, and turning an idea into something people used.
  • Practical curiosity about artificial intelligence, including having prototyped something with large language models, retrieval, or automation and being able to explain what worked and what did not.
  • Experience designing artificial-intelligence-ready data architectures, including semantic layers and medallion structure; familiarity with Azure AI Foundry is a plus.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with data pipeline design and optimization, with working knowledge of SQL Server performance monitoring concepts.
  • Experience with medallion architecture and cloud data warehousing patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Fabric Data Pipelines or similar pipeline/orchestration tools.
  • Experience ingesting from relational sources, including change capture patterns.
  • Experience with API-based data integration.
  • Solid understanding of the broader Azure ecosystem and its data-related services, including App Services, virtual machines, Blob Storage, Log Analytics, and networking basics.
  • Python, Fabric notebooks/Spark, or exposure to MLflow/model registry concepts, and familiarity with Fabric's AI-adjacent capabilities.
  • General exposure to or interest in AI-adjacent data patterns, such as natural-language-to-data querying or conceptual familiarity with how AI grounding over data works.
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell and/or Azure DevOps dashboards/pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction and roadmap for the Microsoft Fabric platform, including layered (medallion) architecture, pipelines, and retiring legacy data marts.
  • Design how data flows from applications into a governed warehouse across multiple customers and environments.
  • Act as the primary designer of Power BI dashboards, including data models, DAX measures, visual design, performance tuning, and governance such as workspace structure, row-level security, and deployment pipelines.
  • Lead AI and automation efforts by identifying manual work to eliminate, prototyping quickly, and bringing new ideas to the team.
  • Shape the AI roadmap by designing data architecture, including semantic layers and medallion structure, to support future AI capabilities.
  • Help design new marketable data products and a lighter way of delivering reports that reduces ongoing maintenance.
  • Partner with DBA, DevOps, and application teams to design scalable, production-ready data solutions.
  • Interpret database logs, identify performance issues, and support high-availability, 24/7 production environments using a working understanding of SQL Server performance monitoring.
  • Design and maintain observability practices across the data platform, including semantic models, pipelines, warehouses, and SQL endpoints.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, patterns, and standards as the organization matures from report development toward a broader data and AI platform strategy.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Power BI Embedded or similar embedding frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or emerging analytics patterns such as real-time/streaming and natural-language-to-data querying.
  • Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector/embedding concepts, AI agents, or responsible AI/governance principles.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting, or health-related analytics, especially in partnership with data scientists or product teams.

About the Company

InductiveHealth

Public health data infrastructure and surveillance

InductiveHealth Informatics provides data infrastructure, surveillance, and intervention services for public health agencies, focusing on disease and syndromic surveillance and managing many jurisdictional systems on platforms like the NEDSS Base System and ESSENCE. Its offerings help public health teams collect, process, and analyze health data to detect outbreaks and trends, including tools like the COVID-19 Data Tracker that aggregates multiple sources for up-to-date epidemiology. The company differentiates itself by handling more jurisdictional surveillance systems than any competitor and by delivering end-to-end technology and services that integrate with established surveillance platforms for federal, state, tribal, local, and territorial health entities. Its goal is to enable government health agencies to monitor and respond to public health threats with accurate, timely, and actionable disease data through scalable surveillance solutions.
