Requirements
  • A high school diploma, General Educational Development credential, or equivalent education, training, and experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of restaurant or senior living experience, or equivalent serving and staff management experience, is required.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 90% of the workday, stoop, bend, and stretch frequently, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to see, hear, and speak.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Dining Room Manager with planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating all dining room activities.
  • Ensure efficient department operation, including employee staffing, training, and scheduling.
  • Check deliveries and provide coverage for any area or server station when scheduled dining room staff are absent.
  • Ensure courteous and efficient service that meets resident, guest, and community standards.
  • Supervise the physical appearance of the dining room and server stations, including table pedestals, place settings, chairs, floors, drapes, and lighting, when the Dining Room Manager is absent.
  • Coordinate the seating of residents and guests efficiently and courteously.
  • Assist the Dining Room Manager with staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of dining room staff across all shifts.
  • Schedule stations and work assignments for wait staff and checkout servers.
  • Record meal counts, reservations, and additional charges.
  • Use the point-of-sale system.
  • Confer with the Dining Room Manager regarding dining room status.
  • Confer with the Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage regarding food, staffing, or service issues.
  • Maintain cross-training with dietary aides.
  • Report damaged or broken equipment to the Food and Beverage Director.
  • Wait tables and provide beverage and bar services as needed.
  • Participate in cost-control measures.
  • Participate in food and beverage inventories as needed.
  • Attend assigned in-service training and education sessions.
  • Perform specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by the Manager.
