Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of home infusion specialty pharmacy and/or medical intake or reimbursement experience is preferred.
  • Acute infusion experience with prior authorization and benefits verification is required.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care reimbursement guidelines is required, including the ability to interpret payer contract fee schedules based on National Drug Code and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System units.
  • The ability to multitask and support numerous referrals and priorities while meeting productivity and quality expectations is required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is required.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Process new referrals, including verifying patient eligibility, adjudicating test claims, coordinating benefits, and identifying estimated patient out-of-pocket costs.
  • Prepare, submit, follow up on, and secure payer authorization requests, including prior authorizations, predeterminations, and medical reviews.
  • Review and obtain clinical documents for submission purposes.
  • Document coverage of medications, administration supplies, and related infusion services for all patient insurance plans.
  • Document coinsurance, copayments, deductibles, authorization requirements, and related benefit information.
  • Calculate estimated patient financial responsibility based on benefit verification, payer contracts, and company self-pay pricing.
  • Communicate with patients, referral sources, other departments, and external and internal customers about referral status, coverage, and other updates.
  • Refer or assist patients who express financial need with enrollment in manufacturer copay assistance programs and foundations.
  • Generate new-patient start-of-care paperwork.

  • Knowledge of CPR+.
