About the company

Monkey Exchange is a Brazilian financial technology platform that enables suppliers to sell future receivables for early payment, connecting buyers (large companies) with their supplier network. It operates as a B2B marketplace for trade finance, charging a transaction fee. The platform helps suppliers improve cash flow and helps buyers strengthen supply chain financial health. It differentiates itself by focusing on a Brazil-based network and a marketplace model that links buyers with suppliers for receivables anticipation. The goal is to optimize working capital and provide accessible financing options in the supply chain.

What believers are saying

  • Monkey crossed R$100 billion transacted by 2024, proving durable marketplace liquidity.
  • The 2024 R$67 million Series B from L4, DEG, Kinea, and Quona funds expansion.
  • 2025 Mexico entry broadens addressable demand from multinational suppliers already operating there.

What critics are saying

  • Mexico and US expansion since 2024 stretches product-market fit and compliance bandwidth.
  • Supply-chain finance depends on anchor buyers; losing one large client kills invoice flow.
  • No visible 2025 layoffs or litigation signals opacity; regulatory shocks could hit cross-border receivables.

What makes Monkey unique

  • Monkey runs a real-time auction marketplace for receivables, not a balance-sheet lender.
  • It serves multinationals like Braskem, Gerdau, CMPC, and Saint-Gobain across Latin America.
  • Founder Gustavo Muller moved to Charlotte in 2024 to push US expansion.

Monkey Exchange Raises $11M Funding

Brazilian online marketplace Monkey Exchange has raised $11 million in new funding. The financing comes as new regulations are expected to increase the market for “advance duplicates” fivefold, expanding the company's potential audience. The new rules will digitalize the process of using invoices as credit guarantees, broadening the market beyond Monkey Exchange's current customer ecosystem. This funding occurs amid strong demand for working capital from non-traditional providers like Block and PayPal.
