Requirements
  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology is required.
  • Maintain current New York State licensure.
  • Maintain American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with continuing education credits as required.
Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality X-ray images by conducting examinations safely and efficiently.
  • Verify and follow referring providers' orders while complying with Imaging Sciences departmental policies.
  • Apply knowledge of human anatomy, X-ray positioning, and immobilization devices when warranted.
  • Prepare rooms and patients according to orders, set up equipment, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors to produce high-quality images.
  • Use electronic patient information systems to verify the patient name, date, examination, and provider comments, and follow the Dual Patient Identifier procedure.
  • Produce diagnostic, high-quality images for radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent correctly to the Picture Archiving and Communication System.
  • Transfer patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lifts, transfer boards, and hover mats.
  • Maintain appropriate supplies in X-ray rooms.
  • Complete and bill for studies accurately.
