About the job

Requirements
  • 8+ years in identity and access management, with meaningful experience as a solutions architect, technical lead, or principal engineer in at least one identity domain.
  • Depth in one or more of identity governance, privileged access, or identity provider and authentication platforms.
  • Strong command of governance, privileged access, secrets management, certificate management, authentication including multifactor authentication and identity providers, and authorization.
  • Understanding of workforce, customer, and non-human identities and of non-human identity types.
  • Ability to identify non-human identities in an enterprise and understand their lifecycle characteristics and visibility tools.
  • Working understanding of AI agent types, lifecycles, and associated controls.
  • Ability to create and deliver architecture review board and cybersecurity review artifacts, including detailed security diagrams.
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions to cloud architects and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to diagnose client problems, explain the causes, and recommend an appropriate solution diplomatically.
  • Ability to operate independently on smaller client engagements.
  • Evidence of continuous learning outside the day job, such as a home lab, side project, or self-directed learning.
  • Must be based in the United States and authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Discover and inventory the non-human identity estate, including where identities exist, how they are used, who owns them, and how they authenticate.
  • Define non-human identity reference architecture across creation, ownership, credential and secret management, rotation, attestation, and decommissioning.
  • Architect across workforce, customer, and non-human identities and across workloads, machine identities, service accounts, API credentials, bots, and AI agents.
  • Map the control landscape for AI agents, including agent types, lifecycles, and control placement.
  • Produce reference architecture diagrams, data and process flows, and detailed security diagrams for architecture review boards and cybersecurity reviews.
  • Lead program assessments, vendor and tool evaluations, future-state architecture, governance model design, platform architecture reviews, and product health checks.
  • Support identity engagements with roadmaps, architecture, and executive-level communication.
  • Own solution architecture and design authority for non-human identity platform implementations and SailPoint engagements.
  • Lead design sessions and proofs of concept, make implementation decisions, and document those decisions.
  • Define integration patterns, data models, access models, and non-functional requirements for security, scale, resiliency, and performance.
  • Guide clients through solutions and progress toward design adoption.
  • Evolve the non-human identity program as workloads, agents, platforms, and regulatory requirements change.
  • Guide certification strategy, configuration and tuning, and program reporting.
  • Lead knowledge transfer and operating-model design so client teams can operate the program independently.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with non-human identity, machine identity, or secrets platforms such as Oasis, Veza, C1, or comparable tools.
  • SailPoint IdentityIQ or Identity Security Cloud architecture and delivery experience.
  • Secrets management at scale using HashiCorp Vault or cloud-native secret stores, and certificate lifecycle management.
  • Cloud identity experience across Amazon Web Services, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including workload identity and federation patterns.
  • Experience contributing to proposals, statements of work, and scoping.
  • Regulated-industry experience in financial services, healthcare, or federal environments and familiarity with related audit expectations.
  • Zero Trust architecture experience and familiarity with non-human and agentic identity.

About the company

Palyrian provides IAM services for large US enterprises, focusing on identity governance, privileged access management (PAM), modern authentication, and regulatory-ready architectures using SailPoint. They begin with Ascend assessments to map a client’s current identity program and create a phased roadmap for standardization, automation, and ongoing compliance. They differentiate themselves by combining technology expertise with startup-style methods to deliver architecture-driven IAM programs and continuous governance and monitoring. Their goal is to achieve scalable identity governance, streamlined access, and automated, auditable compliance across the organization.

What believers are saying

  • Palyrian's April 29, 2026 AI-agents blog matches urgent enterprise identity demand.
  • Their services page added product advisory and continuous services on August 27, 2026.
  • They target regulated enterprises and federal agencies, where identity spending stays mission-critical.

What critics are saying

  • One-to-ten employees means founders handle delivery, sales, and retention simultaneously.
  • No public funding, acquisitions, or marquee customers create fragility if pipeline slows in 2026.
  • Crowded IAM consultancies and SailPoint partners can copy their services; differentiation erodes quickly.

What makes Palyrian unique

  • September 2024 founders Roby Liebbe, Robert Hails III, and Ronald Davis are practitioners.
  • Palyrian sells engineering-first identity delivery, not slideware, across advisory, implementation, and operations.
  • They specialize in SailPoint, modern identity platforms, and regulated-enterprise identity programs.
