Requirements
  • The candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure.
  • The candidate must have completed a psychiatry residency program.
  • The candidate must be board certified in psychiatry.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative, evidence-based models of care tailored to the unique needs of children and young adults requiring specialized psychiatric and/or neurodevelopmental care.
  • Develop care models designed for rural delivery, including telehealth and integrated primary-behavioral health approaches.
  • Improve collaboration and integration among behavioral health, neuroscience, pediatrics, education, and family-centered care.
  • Translate research advances into practical, accessible clinical solutions, particularly for individuals in rural and underserved communities across West Virginia and the surrounding region.
  • Focus on functional outcomes, including school performance, occupational performance, emotional regulation, family stability, and long-term independence.
  • Advance new treatment and management strategies for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and co-occurring conditions.
  • Develop multidisciplinary programs addressing emotional regulation, attention, behavior, learning, and social development.
  • Develop scalable clinical models for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and related neuropsychiatric conditions.
  • Expand access to specialized care for children and families across the region.
  • Reduce disparities in diagnosis, treatment, and long-term outcomes.
  • Train and mentor the next generation of clinicians and behavioral-health leaders, with a specific focus on recruiting and retaining high-quality providers.
  • Elevate WVU Medicine’s national profile in psychiatry and neurodevelopmental care.
  • Practice psychiatry in Morgantown, West Virginia.
