Requirements
  • The candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure.
  • Candidate must have completed psychiatry residency program and must be board certified in psychiatry.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts to establish an Endowed Chair in Psychiatry & Neurodevelopment to address disparities and improve outcomes for individuals with neuropsychiatric conditions, including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Develop innovative, evidence-based models of care tailored to the unique needs of children and young adults requiring specialized psychiatric and/or neurodevelopmental care.
  • Develop care models designed for rural delivery, including telehealth and integrated primary-behavioral health approaches.
  • Improve the collaboration and integration of behavioral health, neuroscience, pediatrics, education, and family-centered care.
  • Translate research advances into practical, accessible clinical solutions, particularly for individuals in rural and underserved communities across West Virginia and the surrounding region.
  • Focus on functional outcomes such as school performance, occupational performance, emotional regulation, family stability, and long-term independence.
  • Serve as a national leader in neurodevelopmental psychiatry by advancing new treatment and management strategies for ADHD, ASD, and co-occurring conditions, and by developing multidisciplinary and scalable clinical programs.
  • Anchor innovation within the clinical environment and measure progress by improved access, better outcomes, and reduced burden on families.
