Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching, bending, and operating floor equipment including vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, and buffers.
  • Ability to meet the Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts based on the hospital's operational needs.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
  • Understanding of assigned areas and the necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow written work assignments.
  • Ability to follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation when applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, and report problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean assigned areas, including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, operating rooms, offices, and equipment, following established procedures.
  • Remove trash from all assigned areas.
  • Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in assigned areas.
  • Make beds in patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned, following established cleaning procedures.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, and report problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Move equipment, furniture, and boxes, and wash walls and spot carpets as assigned.
  • Complete annual required education through computer-based learning, training, in-services, or competency validation when required by specialty accreditation.
  • Work in environments with exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and cleaning chemicals.
