Wanta Thome is a plaintiff-side employment litigation firm built like a modern company. We represent workers who have been hit by discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, we work on contingency, and we measure ourselves by one thing: how much money we recover for our clients.
Most firms hand their litigators the same tools everyone else has and call it a practice. We employ have an in-house developer team who builds custom drafting and case tools for our attorneys, we run the firm on data-backed goals so priorities are never a mystery, and we staff every attorney with teammates who take the routine work off your plate. The result is that our attorneys spend their time on strategy, depositions, negotiations, and trials, not on administrative work.
The Role
We are hiring an experienced litigator to own a caseload (not to assist or grow into one).
You do not need an employment law background. We have resources for teaching the substantive law to lawyers who already know how to litigate. What we cannot teach, and what we are hiring for, is real litigation skill: the judgment that comes from taking depositions, arguing motions, and owning your own strategic calls.
This is not an entry-level position. We are not able to consider new graduates or attorneys who have not yet built core litigation experience.
What You'll Do
- Own your cases from complaint through resolution: strategy, key decisions, and results are yours.
- Take and defend depositions, argue motions, run mediations, and try cases.
- Negotiate hard to deliver life-changing outcomes for workers who were wronged.
- Lead your team: you set the strategy and the deadlines, they execute the routine work.
- Deliver a five-star client experience with steady, candid communication.
What You Bring
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice in Minnesota or Illinois.
- 3+ years of litigation experience, required. Any practice area. You have taken depositions, argued motions, and managed cases you were responsible for.
- Persuasive writing and a confident courtroom presence.
- The instinct to delegate: you give clear direction and let your team run.
- Ambition. You want more autonomy, more upside, and a bigger career than your current seat offers.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $120,000 to $160,000, depending on experience and other factors.
- Incentive compensation tied to case results, with a target total compensation of $250,000+ and no cap.
- Benefits include health and dental, 401(k) with employer contribution, paid time off, paid holidays, commuter account with employer contribution (in-office positions), and more.
- From our Minneapolis or Chicago offices, hybrid, or fully remote.
