Requirements
  • A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience in air quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Consulting or industry experience with New Source Review Construction Permitting, Title V, federal and state air regulations, and air regulatory compliance assistance.
  • Established relationships with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and other regional air pollution control agencies.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
  • Lead air permitting and regulatory compliance programs for private-sector clients with complex technical and regulatory issues in manufacturing, oil and gas, power, and mining industry consulting groups.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, understand client processes, and develop permitting and compliance strategies that preserve facility operating flexibility.
  • Represent the company at conferences and meetings to resolve project issues, plan and coordinate work, and negotiate contracts.
  • Work with air-quality practice members across the country to develop opportunities, build business relationships, and apply best practices to address client needs.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff in planning and executing air-quality projects and in directing or conducting technical reviews of client deliverables.
Desired Qualifications
  • A well-established reputation and recognition as a technical expert in the marketplace.
  • Professional Engineering License in Illinois.
  • Business-development experience for air-quality or regulatory-compliance projects, with the ability to contribute to new sales.
  • Established relationships with industrial trade and professional organizations and large private-sector industrial companies in the Midwest.
  • Experience with landfill-gas wellfield and collection systems.
  • Experience performing landfill-gas design and construction.
  • Experience with landfill-gas treatment and disposal systems, including flaring systems.
  • Understanding of landfill-gas collection-system operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to coordinate materials, equipment, and labor for construction projects when necessary.
  • Ability to produce professional correspondence and reports.
