About the Job

Requirements

  • Significant end-to-end feature ownership across services, APIs, and user interfaces.
  • Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills, including type-safe backend services and APIs.
  • Strong Node.js experience.
  • Meaningful hands-on React experience and a solid grasp of the web platform.
  • Experience with streaming and asynchronous state, including server-sent events, WebSockets, reconnection, mid-flight failure handling, rendering performance under long-running token streams, and accessibility.
  • Ability to weigh technical trade-offs, document designs clearly, and explain implementation rationale.
  • Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL, and SQL.
  • Experience with Git and continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Understanding of cloud application deployment and operations on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Clear technical communication and constructive code review skills.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 4+ years of professional full-stack or web application development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work end to end across the AI/backend engine, service layer, and user interface.
  • Own shipped features, including streaming behavior, state modeling, failure handling, orchestration boundaries, streaming protocols, type-safe client-to-server contracts, artifact and file-delivery flows, and persistence.
  • Extend backend services, wire model interactions and structured outputs, handle streaming, and manage state and persistence while accounting for latency, cost, and failure modes.
  • Extend the Node backend-for-frontend, build endpoints, stream responses to the browser using server-sent events, enforce authentication, and maintain a type-safe client-to-server contract.
  • Build a streaming chat-style React interface with live token streams, progress indicators, and inline interactive content.
  • Convert structured data into interactive charts and tables and build download and preview experiences for generated documents such as PPTX and PDF files.
  • Handle long-running asynchronous work, including partial and streaming state, loading and generation transitions, reconnection, large payloads, and graceful mid-flight failure behavior.
  • Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Instrument client and server systems and use logs, traces, and error tracking to debug cross-system issues.
  • Ship to live user cohorts, monitor product behavior, and fix issues surfaced during staged launches.
  • Build a working model of system behavior and downstream dependencies to make implementation decisions on well-scoped work.
  • Partner with product, design, and platform/backend engineers and communicate through code review, design discussions, and technical writing.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with a modern server-side-rendered or full-stack React framework such as Next.js, Remix, or TanStack Start, including its Query, Form, or Router ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence or large language model application development, including streaming chat interfaces, tool calling, or agentic and multi-agent patterns.
  • Familiarity with type-safe API contracts such as tRPC, Hono RPC, or GraphQL shared across a monorepo.
  • Comfort with pnpm monorepos, Vite, and a TypeScript-first workflow.
  • Experience with authentication flows using Auth0, OAuth/OIDC, or JWTs in a single-page or server-side-rendered application.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Sentry, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana for debugging and operating production systems.
  • Experience in AdTech, MediaTech, or data-heavy product environments.
  • Knowledge of Python, Go, or shell scripting for automation and testing.

About the Company

Samba TV

Delivers TV audience measurement and insights

Samba TV collects and analyzes TV viewing data to help advertisers, broadcasters, and content creators understand what people watch. It embeds its technology in about 35 million smart TVs across 20 brands, creating a large viewership database and a household identity graph. The system works by using a proprietary multi-source panel from participating TVs to gather viewing activity, then turning that data into insights and analytics that clients can use to plan ads, optimize content, and measure performance. What sets Samba TV apart is the size and scope of its data: it claims the largest end-to-end viewership dataset and identity graph in the industry, with a panel hundreds of times larger than typical measurements and broad brand partnerships, while offering privacy controls for viewers who opt in or out. The company aims to provide data-driven, actionable insights to improve advertising effectiveness and content delivery across the global smart TV market.
