- Develop and implement engaging and challenging lesson and unit plans aligned with Fairmont’s curriculum standards and departmental expectations.
- Provide students with enriching homework assignments that adhere to Fairmont’s homework policy.
- Promote Fairmont’s philosophy and develop a positive working environment among students, teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Maintain a disciplined, safe, and academically stimulating classroom environment and consistently apply middle school rules and consequences.
- Organize, maintain, and use Fairmont’s learning management system to post homework and communicate regularly with students and parents.
- Facilitate and inspire student learning through technology by designing age-appropriate technology-based learning opportunities and modeling effective technology use.
- Keep the Head of School or Associate Head of School informed about students needing special academic attention or exhibiting behavioral issues.
- Assess student learning routinely and maintain records for progress reports, report cards, conferences, and student and parent requests.
- Update the online gradebook weekly so parents and students can access current records through the student information system.
- Use available information to differentiate instruction according to student needs.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings, in-service days, workshops, conferences, and professional development activities, and apply the learning in the classroom.
- Maintain classrooms, books, and supplies in an orderly condition and inform appropriate staff about needs for equipment, books, teaching supplies, and maintenance.
- Treat each student with dignity and respect while promoting self-discipline and a positive attitude.
- Demonstrate teaching strategies appropriate for English language learners.
- Set a positive example by arriving on time, dressing professionally, planning creative and productive lessons, and promptly evaluating and returning student work.
- Provide at least one hour of planned academic assistance per week as scheduled with the Head of School.
- Periodically supervise after-school detention, study hall, and field trips, including overnight trips.
- Carry out other duties as directed by campus administration.
- A passing grade on the California Basic Educational Skills Test.
