Requirements
  • Thorough understanding of practices involved in the use and maintenance of various types of heavy equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of safety rules and ability to safely operate machinery.
  • Thorough understanding of GPS systems and how they are utilized in heavy earthmoving activities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of operating experience.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work long periods, including evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds at a time using safe and proper lifting techniques.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
  • Work with the Superintendent onsite and other foremen to develop daily job tasks.
  • Transport tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to develop crew members.
  • Assist with the setup of GPS systems.
  • Operate heavy earthmoving equipment such as dozers, loaders, scrapers, excavators, or motor graders while leading a crew to perform assigned tasks.
  • Perform or request necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes and ensure all crew members do the same.
  • Maintain records of time worked and materials used.
  • Complete and discuss the Job Hazard Analysis with crews every day before work starts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel continuously to project sites across multiple states based on business needs and project schedules.
Desired Qualifications
  • Vocational school training or apprenticeship.
