Requirements
  • Knowledge of subject matter to be tutored
  • Ability to explain complex subject matter with patience and attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to demonstrate cooperation and professionalism in stressful situations
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with various cultures and ethnicities
  • Associate degree or pursuit of an associate degree
  • Minimum of 42 quarter hours (or the equivalent) of college coursework with a minimum 3.25 GPA, including a minimum of “B” grades in coursework related to the courses to be tutored
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered
  • Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities
  • Must pass a background check
Responsibilities
  • Assist students with understanding assignments and concepts in a specialized subject area
  • Assist students with academic applications of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Assist students with navigating MCC systems and software
  • Assist with other general Learning and Tutoring Center tasks as assigned
  • Attend work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned
