Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Geoscience, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience managing oil and gas geoscience, drilling, and engineering technical data is preferred.
  • Ten or more years of experience loading and managing well data in Landmark R5000, Petrel Studio, or similar subsurface software.
  • Advanced knowledge of well data generated during planning, drilling, logging, and completion operations.
  • Subject matter expertise in loading and validating well data, including surface locations, elevation and elevation reference, deviation surveys, north/grid reference, tops, and log curves.
  • Excellent understanding of master data management concepts for technical data.
  • Experience defining extract, transform, and load and Data Quality Management business rules for data management toolkits such as InnerLogix.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining well master data management programs.
  • Excellent knowledge of geodetics and units of measure used with well surface and subsurface data.
  • Expertise with Schlumberger's InnerLogix Suite of applications.
  • Ability to lead initiatives, project teams, and stakeholder buy-in for major subsurface well data management work programs.
  • Ability to lead projects and meet deliverables within time, budget, and resource constraints.
  • Ability to manage vendors and build effective working relationships.
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Translate business and subsurface domain requirements into scalable, secure, and cloud-optimized data and integration architectures.
  • Drive adoption of OSDU data structures across exploration, drilling, production, and reservoir engineering data domains.
  • Lead integration of existing petrotechnical and subsurface systems, including Petrel, OpenWorks, and Studio, with OSDU-compliant platforms.
  • Integrate and enhance well data types into OpenWorks R5000 and Petrel Studio repositories using data management tools such as Schlumberger's InnerLogix Suite, including source System of Record data and attributes from EDM and RECALL.
  • Design solutions using major cloud providers, including AWS.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for data modeling, metadata tagging, identity and access management, and API security.
  • Monitor, support, and maintain the Well Data Management Framework and report data-quality non-compliance to System of Record owners and Data Management leadership.
  • Process exception and correction reports using Data Quality Standards and propose process and business-rule enhancements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and Data Advisors to correct data at the System of Record level and monitor InnerLogix transfers into OpenWorks and Petrel Studio project databases.
  • Research well history and resolve complex data issues for domestic and international wells in OpenWorks and Petrel Studio projects.
  • Monitor and validate petrophysical interpretations loaded into working projects through automation.
  • Identify and manage trade wells and Operated-by-Others wells for use by Geoscience teams.
  • Support OpenWorks project administration and automation troubleshooting across domestic and international asset groups and lead legacy data cleanup efforts.
  • Coordinate integration of critical and master drilling and completions data with master and project databases.
  • Load, validate, and integrate Well Master Data Management data into project databases on scheduled and on-demand bases and participate in related projects.
  • Support integration of Petrel, OpenWorks, and Studio with OSDU-compliant AWS cloud platforms.
  • Support migration from legacy InnerLogix data structures to a microservice-based platform while preserving relationship context, lineage, and data quality.
  • Reconcile and validate well data during migration into the new platform's set-based processing and Lucene search environment.
  • Monitor industry trends in surface and subsurface well master data management and provide organizational guidance and support.
Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise with Landmark R5000, EDM, RECALL, and Petrel/Studio; working knowledge of the R5000 data model is a plus.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and familiarity with OSDU Data Platform standards.
  • Familiarity with graph-based data platforms and microservice architectures, including Neo4j and Lucene search.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma data quality methodologies applied to technical data validation and assurance.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Occidental Petroleum beats Q2 estimates with $2.40 EPS as operational efficiency drives record free cash flow

Occidental Petroleum exceeded Wall Street expectations in its second quarter, driven by operational efficiency and cost control across US and international assets. Chief financial officer Sunil Mathew noted that operational execution generated the highest quarterly free cash flow since 2022. During the earnings call, analysts questioned the company's cash flow improvement timeline, capital allocation priorities, and sustainability of cost savings. Occidental shares jump 5% after $1.9B debt cut from $3B quarterly free cash flow

Occidental Petroleum's shares rose 4.9% on Thursday after the oil and gas producer generated $3 billion in free cash flow, its strongest quarterly performance since Q3 2022. The company used the cash to cut debt by $1.9 billion to $11.8 billion, moving within $1.8 billion of its $10 billion debt target. Operating cash flow reached $5.1 billion whilst capital spending remained at $1.6 billion. Occidental also raised its quarterly dividend 8% to $0.28 per share. Production averaged 1.433 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, exceeding guidance. Adjusted earnings hit $2.40 per diluted share on net income of $2.8 billion. Realised crude prices jumped 38% sequentially to $96.78 per barrel, boosting profitability. The stock now trades at $56.29, roughly 22.4% above its estimated fair value of $45.99.

Occidental profit surges to $2.8B on higher oil prices and midstream turnaround

Occidental Petroleum reported net income of $2.8 billion for the second quarter of 2026, up from $288 million a year earlier. Adjusted income rose to $2.4 billion, or $2.40 per diluted share, from $296 million, or $0.26 per share, in the same period of 2025. The improvement was driven by higher crude prices and a turnaround in midstream operations. Occidental's average worldwide realized crude price increased 38% sequentially to $96.78 per barrel. The midstream segment generated $1.3 billion in pre-tax income, reversing a $87 million loss in the previous quarter. Global production averaged 1.433 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, above guidance. Occidental reduced principal debt by $1.9 billion to $11.8 billion and raised its quarterly dividend 8% to $0.28 per share.

Trump's Iran talks trigger oil selloff; USO down 6%, CVX and XOM fall premarket

US President Donald Trump announced negotiations with Iran would begin Monday, focusing on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and the country's nuclear programme. The news sent crude oil prices tumbling, with Brent futures down 4.6% to $83.88 per barrel and WTI futures falling 4.5% to $77.80. The United States Oil Fund dropped more than 6% in premarket trading. Energy stocks also declined, with Chevron falling 1.2% and Exxon Mobil slipping 1.6%. Occidental Petroleum lost 1.5%, whilst Devon Energy and APA Corp dropped 2.6% and 2.8% respectively. Separately, Barclays raised its price target on Chevron to $216 from $213, citing record Permian production and stronger refining margins following the company's second-quarter results.

Nasdaq futures rise 0.7% as Lockheed Martin unveils new defense systems amid Middle East tensions

US stock futures rebounded Monday morning, with the Nasdaq leading gains at 0.7%, whilst the S&P 500 and Dow rose 0.35% and 0.3% respectively. Investors sought to recover from Friday's losses, when the Nasdaq fell 1.4%, marking its biggest weekly decline in four weeks. Lockheed Martin shares climbed in premarket trading after unveiling two new defence systems to counter drones and missiles. The company said the systems would provide more affordable and rapidly deployable solutions. Oil stocks Occidental, Exxon, and Chevron gained as crude prices remained elevated amid US-Iran tensions. Brent crude traded at $82.5 per barrel. GameStop converted its eBay investment into direct ownership, acquiring a 9.8% stake valued at nearly $4.9 billion through 43.39 million shares.
