Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution is required.
  • At least two years of experience in development or a related field such as alumni relations, career services, event management, sales, marketing, or public relations is required.
  • A proven track record of successful project management, strong customer or client support, or volunteer management is required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with current online and social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, and various email and electronic communications strategies is required.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment is required.
  • Familiarity with fundraising systems and strong command of Microsoft Office Suite products are required.
  • Periodic night and weekend work, as well as travel, is required.
  • Employment is contingent on successfully completing a background check.
Responsibilities
  • Research and identify major gift prospects for the Assistant Dean and directors and conduct discovery visits in the DMV region.
  • Develop programs and strategies to identify, prioritize, cultivate, and solicit key individual prospects.
  • Assist the Assistant Dean with travel for major development events and trips in the United States and abroad.
  • Personally manage a portfolio of 75 to 100 major gift prospects, including alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations, and achieve personal goals for prospect cultivation, solicitation, and gift closure.
  • Oversee stewardship efforts for donors who have contributed to the College of Arts and Sciences, including daily gifts from various sources and major gifts secured by the CAS Development Team.
  • Provide high-level logistical and administrative support for day-to-day operations, relevant events, board meetings, team documents, and individual projects.
  • Assist with the fulfillment of other development objectives in collaboration with the Assistant Dean and directors.
  • Assist with CAS-specific alumni relations activities, including acknowledgements, invitations, and mailings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other schools and colleges and members of the central development staff.
  • Supervise an occasional student worker.
  • Work periodic nights and weekends and travel as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
