About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of building codes and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and quality requirements.
  • The ability to manage personnel issues proactively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to process information quickly and follow through with a course of action.
  • The ability to operate office equipment such as a computer, fax machine, copier, and telephone.
Responsibilities
  • Review plans and specifications to develop comprehensive knowledge of job requirements.
  • Develop job plans, including schedules, access, manpower, and building requirements.
  • Procure tools, labor, and some materials.
  • Interact with architects and owners to resolve job issues.
  • Meet regularly with the General Superintendent for additional training and development.
  • Communicate construction issues and progress to supervisory personnel, craft personnel, subcontractors, clients, and the General Superintendent.
  • Work with supervisors and labor representatives to resolve problems with the project workforce.
  • Confer with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and tool and material suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications and construction schedules.
  • Manage the project based on progress reports, materials used, and costs, adjusting work schedules accordingly.
  • Work with the Manager of Field Operations to move personnel between projects to maximize resources.
  • Handle crew mixes and work assignments to manage labor costs.
  • Terminate craft personnel who do not perform according to policies, procedures, or job requirements.
  • Work with the Project Manager to prepare the Project Management Plan.
  • Track and price extra work tickets, change requests, and back charges when needed.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures and report unsafe activities to a supervisor or Safety.
  • Maintain professional standards of conduct and ethics and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Participate actively in the team environment and contribute to successful completion of team goals.
  • Accept accountability for individual and team performance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two to three years of prior field experience in commercial construction.
  • Craft skills in concrete, other building trades, or equipment operation.
