Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related degree is required.
  • Coursework, laboratory work, and projects must include some combination of electrical power systems, control system theory, supervisory software development, database design and management, software engineering, robotics, or mechatronics.
  • Proficiency with personal computer hardware and software is required.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in employment and educational settings are required.
  • Sponsorship for United States work authorization is not available for this position.
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal and external contacts are required.
  • Demonstrated personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility is required.

Responsibilities
  • Complete the Engineering Excellence Program curriculum during the 24-month program, including work rotations of approximately 4–6 months and an 8-week classroom-based New Engineer Development Program.
  • Prepare technical specifications for electrical and electromechanical power-conversion equipment, sensors, and automation equipment suppliers.
  • Conduct power-system studies and evaluate supplier proposals for technically and cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure shipped systems meet client requirements, system specifications, performance guarantees, and business objectives.
  • Manage equipment costs and recommend feasible cost reductions.
  • Gather project information, assess requirements, and support technical project-review meetings with clients.
  • Design industrial-controller, computer-based, and Human Machine Interface software modules.
  • Interpret client specifications and industry codes; create equipment specifications, bills of materials, and drawings.
  • Prepare purchase specifications and enterprise resource planning requisitions, track specification and drawing revisions, and edit drawings for project configurations.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, incorporate selected technologies into power products, and define required tool modifications and features.
  • Commission and tune alternating-current and direct-current drive systems, control software, and solar photovoltaic inverter products.
  • Troubleshoot complex control-system performance problems and design, configure, and test system software and hardware.
  • Prepare technical specifications and solutions for drive and automation systems, define hardware and software requirements, prepare technical cost elements, solicit client feedback, and design technical approaches to client issues.
  • Follow manager assignments, collaborate with peers and cross-organizational teams, comply with company policies and regulations, recommend improvements, and use business tools and processes effectively.
