Requirements

  • The candidate must be competent with personal computers or tablets and able to use handheld devices.
  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • The candidate must have at least two years of experience in an industrial setting.
  • The candidate must have two to six years of experience in an industrial setting in a similar role.
  • The candidate must have experience with electrical controls.
  • The candidate must have seven years of experience in an industrial setting in a similar role for the advanced level.
Responsibilities
  • The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains equipment using electrical diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications while following safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes.
  • The Maintenance Technician uses an electronic computerized maintenance management system on a mobile device to document work orders and work performed.
  • The Maintenance Technician performs routine preventive maintenance, including inspecting drives and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.
  • The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pneumatics, electronic boards, programmable logic controllers, touch screens, displays, contactors, conveyors, blending, scaling, filling, cartoning, coding and printing, electrical, compressed-air, vacuum, hydraulic, and bulk-filling systems.
  • The Maintenance Technician works on electricity systems for production and plant-support equipment ranging from single-phase to three-phase equipment and from 5 VDC to 480 VAC.
  • The Maintenance Technician works with electrical wiring, relay logic, control circuits, and safety circuits.
  • The Maintenance Technician checks blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • The Maintenance Technician tears down and rebuilds gearboxes, clutches, actuators, and other assemblies related to equipment repairs.
  • The Maintenance Technician records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • The Maintenance Technician thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing and reinstalling parts as necessary.
  • The Maintenance Technician uses hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment, including drill presses, surface grinders, torches, plasma cutters, pipe threaders, brakes, presses, calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and test equipment.
  • The Maintenance Technician fabricates parts and guarding and modifies parts for equipment repairs and improvements.
  • The Maintenance Technician welds different grades of metal for repairs and fabrication using plant welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
  • The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots HVAC systems as needed.
  • The Maintenance Technician follows company policies, including general manufacturing and safety practices.
  • The Maintenance Technician reports food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate corrective action.
  • The Maintenance Technician trains junior or new technicians on equipment, procedures, and troubleshooting practices.
  • The Maintenance Technician trains operators and other support staff in equipment operation, setup, and best practices.
  • The Maintenance Technician completes preventive maintenance, product changeovers, corrective maintenance, and breakdown maintenance as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • A 2-year technical or community college degree is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems is preferred.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of programmable logic controller troubleshooting is preferred.
  • A 2-year Associate of Applied Science degree is preferred.
  • Advanced programmable logic controller troubleshooting skills are preferred.
  • An electrician's license is preferred.
  • Welding experience or certification is preferred.
  • Metal fabrication experience is preferred.
