Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related science from an accredited school is required.
  • A New York State Department of Education license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist is required.
  • The role requires knowledge of hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and/or microbiology.
  • Hospital experience is desired.
  • The employee must work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
  • Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and monitor the department's quality control policies and ensure documentation of quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
  • Ensure that departmental supplies are stocked and well maintained.
  • Correlate laboratory methods, procedures, and patient test results with age-specific population criteria.
  • Demonstrate appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group and address safety and psychological needs when planning or delivering care.
  • Establish and implement service priorities and workflow patterns, and monitor workflow to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services.
