Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • At least one year of automotive experience is required.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, is required.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing hazardous-waste disposal is required.
  • Knowledge of mathematical principles and their application, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages, is required.
  • Ability to operate manual-transmission vehicles is required.
  • Ability to determine causes of operating errors and decide appropriate actions is required.
  • Ability to coordinate activities with other employees, pay attention to detail, and read and comprehend instructions and information in English is required.
  • A valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable, safe driving record are required.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stretch, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear is required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, noisy environments, and small or enclosed spaces is required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform safety inspections on vehicles obtained from auction or guest trade-ins.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on customer-pay and internal repair orders.
  • Repair vehicles according to estimates and manufacturer and dealership standards.
  • Road-test vehicles to quality-check completed work.
  • Examine vehicles to determine whether additional safety or service work is required.
  • Communicate requests for additional work and estimates to Service Managers.
  • Complete work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
  • Document work performed and findings on repair orders and inspection sheets.
  • Maintain communication with the Parts Department about parts status.
  • Achieve production objectives set by management.
  • Maintain an assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper repair.
  • Perform administrative functions as directed by service management.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate of Science degree in mechanical technology or graduation from an automotive vocational school is desired.
