Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in top hat structures (body side, roof, and cowl) areas and relevant automotive assignments, including all three phases of product development (design, test and launch).
  • Skilled in utilizing CATIA for designing and developing detailed parts.
  • Strong technical skills and expertise in sheet metal design, coupled with a 1st principles approach to problem solving.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • An ability to build strong working relationships with people across all organizational levels.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for sheet metal design and release of top hat (body side, roof, cowl) parts for new products, ensuring innovative and optimized solutions for Scout trucks and SUVs.
  • Manage the design of parts to meet cost, weight, and vehicle performance targets at all design milestones.
  • Conduct analysis of sections, components, and sub-systems to drive the design of part to support the overall vehicle efficiencies.
  • Develop CAD to support design alternative studies and production development of parts.
  • Participate in collaborative design and creation of a simulation environment for testing new body system concepts and ideas related to vehicle handling, safety features, and overall driving experience.
  • Support the development prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
  • Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
  • Contribute to the design of production facilities for body systems of the Scout trucks & SUVs.
  • Manage resources efficiently including supplier partners.
  • Be a key member within the body structures team and liaison with all Scout functions.
