Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field and five years of related information technology experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting, testing, scripting, and coding.
  • Ability to provide 24 x 7 on-call support.
  • Ability to work from home regularly while commuting to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based on business needs.
  • Residency in the state of Georgia is required.
Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of network systems, applications, and network infrastructure to provide technical expertise for network infrastructure designs, expansions, and configurations.
  • Monitor critical processes for enterprise-wide systems and applications in the Network Operations Center, monitor data downloads to ensure job completions, address interruptions and failures, and interact with programmers and requestors to troubleshoot and resolve errors and interruptions.
  • Develop software and tools for optimizing network monitoring and performance.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network services and devices.
  • Interact with customers to resolve network issues.
  • Perform inspections and upgrades, and develop and maintain documentation.
  • Monitor network performance and prepare usage and outage statistics and post-mortem analyses to document incidents and provide histories for future reference and research.
  • Design system configuration.
  • Collaborate with others for active maintenance and future growth.
  • Set policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Report on results.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on network communications and provide auxiliary support for Emory information technology services, Library Information Technology Services, and Healthcare staff to troubleshoot and resolve network and service-related issues at customer premises.
  • Provide 24 x 7 on-call support to assist with restoring service.
  • Demonstrate leadership and mentoring of less-experienced technicians.
  • Provide support without direction and support modifications and changes to configuration.
  • Perform other duties as required.
