Requirements
  • An active Department of Defense Secret security clearance at the time of hire is required, and United States citizenship is required.
  • Hands-on experience building missions or scenarios in a simulation environment with a mission editor, preferably VBS4 or VBS3; Arma series or comparable military simulation platforms also qualify.
  • Working knowledge of geographic information systems fundamentals and at least one major toolset, such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
  • Comfort with geospatial data formats including GeoTIFF, shapefile, DTED, and KML/KMZ.
  • Applied open-source intelligence skills supporting scenario realism, including source discovery and evaluation, geolocation techniques, and basic imagery analysis.
  • Familiarity with military terminology, unit structures, or operational concepts.
  • Strong written communication and documentation habits.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to customer locations.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain VBS4 scenarios, including entity placement, mission logic, triggers, and artificial-intelligence behaviors.
  • Translate customer training objectives and subject-matter-expert input into executable operations.
  • Iterate on scenarios with instructors and training audiences to improve training value.
  • Source, process, and prepare geospatial data, including satellite imagery, elevation models, and vector layers, for use in VBS4 terrain.
  • Refine and validate terrain so it supports scenario and training requirements.
  • Conduct open-source research when required to ground scenarios in real-world conditions, including order of battle, patterns of life, infrastructure, and environmental detail.
  • Support customer product development, exercise events, and simulation-enhanced products.
  • Validate content quality through structured testing and quality-assurance passes.
  • Document workflows, data sources, and scenario libraries for reuse and auditability.
Desired Qualifications
  • Eligibility for a Top Secret clearance.
  • Hands-on VBS4 experience, including the scenario and mission editor; strong VBS3 experience is also valued.
  • VBS4 scripting experience or exposure to the VBS software development kit and application programming interfaces.
  • Experience with terrain-generation pipelines and tools such as VBS World Server, VBS Geo, TerraTools, or similar.
  • Python scripting for geospatial workflows using GDAL, GeoPandas, or arcpy.
  • Remote sensing or photogrammetry coursework or experience.
  • Prior military, intelligence-community, or defense-contractor background.
  • Exposure to Live, Virtual, Constructive training environments and interoperability standards such as Distributed Interactive Simulation or High-Level Architecture.
  • Experience supporting live exercises or distributed training events.
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8140 baseline certification.
  • GIAC Open Source Intelligence or comparable OSINT tradecraft certification.
  • USGIF Certified GEOINT Professional credentials.
  • Esri technical certifications, such as ArcGIS Pro Associate.
  • GISP certification.
  • Completion of official Bohemia Interactive Simulations VBS training courses.
  • A bachelor's degree in geographic information systems, geography, intelligence studies, computer science, modeling and simulation, or a related field.
  • VBS4 or VBS3 scenario files, screenshots, or capture video; Arma series mission or mod work; GIS or terrain projects; or OSINT products such as geolocation write-ups or open-source research summaries.
