About the job

Requirements
  • At least 12 years of experience in US cardiovascular device sales, including at least 5 years in a sales leadership role at Regional or Area Director level or above.
  • A demonstrable personal network among EP/CSP opinion leaders and implanting physicians; established relationships with structural heart/TAVR operators are strongly preferred.
  • A track record of launching a new technology or opening a new indication, rather than solely managing a mature franchise.
  • Experience with capital and disposable sales models, hospital value analysis, and GPO/IDN contracting.
  • Ability to write the plan, execute it, and hire behind it while operating with limited infrastructure.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and present the US commercial strategy, operating plan, and budget for approval.
  • Drive the US commercial launch and revenue growth, initially leading sales personally before building out the sales organization.
  • Identify, open, and close initial TAVR and EP/CSP centers, and manage capital and per-procedure commercial models.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a focused sales force; define territories and compensation with the CEO.
  • Lead hospital contracting, value-analysis committees, and GPO/IDN engagement in coordination with Commercial Operations.
  • Manage the US commercial budget and align spending with approved company plans and priorities.
  • Define positioning and messaging for interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and hospital administration audiences.
  • Plan and execute the company's presence at TCT, HRS, ACC, and relevant CSP and structural-heart meetings.
  • Direct collateral, case studies, and digital content, and manage external agencies where required.
  • Maintain and extend relationships with TAVR and EP/CSP opinion leaders; secure early adopters, podium presence, and clinical champions.
  • Coordinate with Clinical Engineers and the Valencia imaging center on case support and site onboarding.
  • Build forecasting, pipeline, and customer relationship management (CRM) discipline appropriate to the company's scale.
  • Report monthly to the CEO, or the board or its designee until a CEO is hired, on pipeline, conversions, and market feedback; feed clinical and product insights back to R&D and regulatory teams.
  • Within the first 12 months, obtain approval for and execute the launch plan within 90 days; contract and activate target early-adopter centers; hire, train, and manage three regional sales managers; and establish a KOL advisory group and secure initial podium or abstract presence.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience at a venture-backed device company through its first US launch.
  • Familiarity with cardiac imaging, including CT-based planning, or mapping systems.
  • Marketing ownership in a previous role.

About the company

CARA Medical builds software that helps doctors visualize the heart's electrical conduction system without surgery. Its tools use a patient’s CT angiography to create a personalized 3D map of the conduction pathways and provide navigation during procedures. The CARA Metis software generates a pre-procedure 3D overlay of the conduction system to aid planning, while CARA Atlas offers interactive, real-time 3D guidance during interventions. This setup supports conduction system pacing and structural heart procedures such as TAVR, TMVR, and TTVR. Compared with others, CARA Medical emphasizes patient-specific, non-invasive visualization derived from existing imaging to inform planning and execution, backed by a leadership team with deep experience in cardiac imaging and medical devices. The company’s goal is to reduce procedural risks and improve the precision of cardiac device placement, ultimately improving outcomes for patients undergoing complex heart procedures.

What believers are saying

  • FDA 510(k) clearance on February 20, 2026 removed the biggest regulatory hurdle.
  • Heart Rhythm 2026 presence signals active clinical outreach to electrophysiologists and structural heart teams.
  • An observational 2025 study linked CARA-Metis lead positioning with better LVEF response.

What critics are saying

  • Commercial launch starts in coming months; revenue remains unproven after February 2026 clearance.
  • CARA depends on physician-reviewed AI outputs, slowing adoption and increasing liability risk.
  • One product line faces existential risk if outcomes data fail to beat standard planning.

What makes CARA Medical unique

  • CARA turns routine CTA scans into conduction-system maps for TAVR and pacing.
  • FDA cleared CARA System on February 20, 2026, validating the core workflow.
  • Shlomo Ben-Haim's CARTO legacy gives CARA rare electrophysiology credibility.

Cara Medical receives FDA clearance for noninvasive cardiac conduction system visualisation platform

Cara Medical has received FDA 510(k) clearance for the CARA System, a computed tomography angiography-based platform that provides noninvasive 3D visualisation of the cardiac conduction system. The system, which received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation last year, enables visualisation during structural heart and pacing procedures. The CARA System comprises two components: CARA Metis Simulator for preprocedural planning and CARA Atlas Navigator for intraprocedural guidance. The platform is intended for procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement and conduction system pacing. The system uses AI and machine learning algorithms to support CT segmentation and catheter detection, with outputs requiring physician review. Cara Medical plans to begin its US commercial launch in the coming months.
