Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • At least 5 years of overall relevant hands-on engineering experience is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience building and shipping production AI applications, LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation systems, or copilots to real users is required.
  • Fluency with modern AI coding agents and developer tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, plus version control, continuous integration and continuous delivery, testing, containerization, and cloud deployment, is required.
  • Deep experience working with structured data, including lakehouse, warehouse, transactional, and time-series sources, and unstructured data, including PDFs, documents, transcripts, and semi-structured sources, at scale is required.
  • Hands-on experience with document intelligence, optical character recognition pipelines, large language model-based extraction, and workflow automation integrated into end-to-end business processes is required.
  • Strong coding fundamentals in Python and TypeScript or Java are required.
  • Experience working directly with business users to scope and ship software in regulated, high-stakes environments is required.
Responsibilities
  • Embed with business stakeholders to scope and ship AI and automation products that change how Carlyle works.
  • Own delivery on products from discovery and requirements through build, deployment, adoption, and iteration, in partnership with the manager and team.
  • Build AI-native applications, including agentic workflows, LLM-powered analytics, document intelligence pipelines, and human-in-the-loop copilots that turn data into decisions.
  • Automate high-volume Corporate Services processes end to end, from intake and data capture through approvals, exceptions, and downstream systems.
  • Prototype in days, harden in weeks, and operate AI solutions at firm scale.
  • Partner with users in their environment to ensure shipped solutions are adopted and used effectively.
  • Write production-quality code and apply rigorous engineering practices, including code review, testing, deployment hygiene, monitoring, and incremental hardening of high-stakes systems.
  • Use modern AI coding agents and developer tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, together with the surrounding DevOps stack, to deliver quickly without sacrificing quality.
  • Build within the team's standards, patterns, and guardrails for AI solutions and contribute improvements.
  • Contribute reusable components, evaluation harnesses, prompt and agent patterns, and deployment templates.
  • Partner with infrastructure, data, and security teams to ensure solutions deploy cleanly into Carlyle's environment and meet enterprise standards for observability, controls, and audit.
  • Stay current on the AI landscape and bring promising tools, models, and techniques to the manager and team for evaluation.
Desired Qualifications
  • A concentration in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, data science, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Financial services experience is preferred.

Carlyle and Dynasty Equity complete minority investments in Seattle Seahawks

Carlyle and Dynasty Equity have completed minority investments in the Seattle Seahawks, supporting the Khosla family's purchase of the NFL team. The investments received approval from the National Football League at a special meeting on 26 August. Ben Fund, partner at Carlyle, highlighted the franchise's engaged fan base and strong Pacific Northwest roots. K. Don Cornwell, co-founder and CEO of Dynasty Equity, emphasised the privilege of partnering with the iconic franchise and supporting its continued success. Carlyle manages $485 billion in assets as of 30 June 2026. Dynasty Equity is a global sports investment firm focused on strategic investments across the sports ecosystem.

Carlyle scraps $2.5B sale of Very Group after bids fall short

Very Group's planned sale is being shelved after bidders failed to meet the £2bn asking price, Sky News reported. The online retailer, which owns the Littlewoods brand, was acquired by US private equity firm Carlyle for £1 last year following the Barclay family empire's collapse. Potential buyers included Chinese online giant JD.com, investment firm Elliott, and plus-size retailer N Brown. None submitted offers meeting Carlyle's demands. The Liverpool-based company reported a pre-tax loss exceeding £500m on sales of around £2.1bn in the last financial year. However, recent trading showed improvement, with operating profit steady at £173.5m for the 39 weeks to March 28. Carlyle injected £150m into Very Group earlier this year. The firm now faces owning the struggling retailer indefinitely if the sale is scrapped.

Carlyle co-leads $1B funding round for hypersonic missile startup Castelion

Californian missile-making startup Castelion has closed a funding round exceeding $1 billion, co-led by Carlyle Group, JPMorgan Chase, and Andreessen Horowitz. The Series C investment comprises $800 million in equity and a $250 million revolving credit facility, raising the company's valuation to $13 billion. The fresh capital will fund production of Castelion's Blackbeard hypersonic missile and development of a larger hypersonic strike weapon and air-defence missile. Military leaders seek more hypersonic weapons to match China's growing arsenal, whilst the Pentagon requires increased production of traditional defensive systems like Patriot missiles. Castelion, founded by three SpaceX alumni, has invested roughly $250 million building a New Mexico production campus and is searching for a new factory site.

Carlyle posts $1.11B revenue, beats analyst estimates by 20.7% in Q2

Carlyle reported second-quarter results that exceeded analyst expectations, with revenue of $1.11 billion beating estimates of $921.4 million. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.07, surpassing the $0.91 forecast. The private equity firm's strong performance was driven by its AlpInvest and Global Credit divisions. CEO Harvey Schwartz highlighted record distributable earnings in both units and robust capital returns to clients across multiple asset classes and regions. Operating margin declined to 22.3% from 40% in the prior-year period. The company's market capitalisation stands at $17.23 billion. During the earnings call, analysts questioned management about fundraising timelines, the MAI Capital acquisition rationale, compensation ratios, and growth prospects in defence and industrials. Schwartz indicated most flagship fund closings would occur over the next 24 months.
