About the job

Requirements
  • Education: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Core EE Expertise: 6+ years of experience in electrical design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, power systems (batteries, motor drivers), and sensor integration.
  • Firmware Fluency: Ability to read, write, and debug embedded C/C++ (microcontrollers, RTOS, communication protocols like CAN, SPI, I2C).
  • Mechanical Fluency: Familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion360, etc.) and a practical understanding of motors, actuators, kinematics, and physical stress points.
  • The Agile Builder Mindset: You are highly self-directed and value speed and iteration. You are just as comfortable designing a new PCB architecture as you are tearing down a robot chassis to troubleshoot a system-level fault.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across cross-functional (software/data) and global engineering teams.
Responsibilities
  • Rapid Prototyping & Research Validation: Collaborate closely with the research and data teams to quickly iterate on electromechanical designs, building fast, functional prototypes to validate cutting-edge software, AI, and teleoperation concepts.
  • Cutting-Edge R&D: Design, build, and implement local hardware modifications, custom test rigs, and next-generation subsystems to accelerate our US research initiatives.
  • Full-Stack Integration: Work seamlessly across domains. Lead the local EE architecture (PCB design/review, power distribution), modify CAD models, and write/tweak firmware (C/C++) to ensure your prototypes operate perfectly.
  • Global Hardware Feedback Loop: Support our global hardware development cycle. Diagnose early-stage system bugs on incoming builds and translate your US-based research validations into actionable engineering feedback for our China team to implement in future production iterations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience in an R&D or advanced prototyping lab environment.
  • Previous experience collaborating with global hardware development teams to hand off prototypes for manufacturing.
  • Direct experience with advanced robotics, specifically mobile bases, robotic arms, or complex teleoperation setups.

About the company

Dyna Robotics designs and deploys general-purpose robots that are powered by proprietary foundation models. Their DYNA-1 model enables embodied-AI robots to operate autonomously across real-world commercial environments and continuously improve through experience. The robots work by running a single base model that generalizes to tasks in different settings—hotels, restaurants, laundromats, and gyms—allowing multi-shift, 24/7 operation with high task success. Compared with others, Dyna focuses on broad applicability and self-improvement of their embodied AI in diverse commercial contexts, backed by a strong founder track record and large financing rounds from major investors to scale research, engineering, and production-ready deployments. The company aims to expand research and development and extend production-ready deployments across more commercial environments.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 DYNA-2 reached 87% zero-shot deployment quality at novel customer sites.
  • Dyna says fleet will reach hundreds of robots by first half 2027.
  • Hiring for safety operators across Walnut Creek, San Diego, Bellevue, and Midtown signals expansion.

What critics are saying

  • One Din Tai Fung rollout anchors revenue; a failed kitchen deployment stalls 2027 expansion.
  • On-site robot safety incidents trigger recalls, lawsuits, and landlord bans across customer properties.
  • If DYNA-2 stops outperforming teleoperation, Dyna becomes another hardware services shop.

What makes Dyna Robotics unique

  • DYNA-2's 1-million-hour human-video pretraining creates a rare scaling-law moat.
  • Din Tai Fung rollouts and hotels prove software-to-hardware transfer beyond demos.
  • Investors like NVIDIA, Amazon, Salesforce, and Samsung validate cross-industry distribution.

Dyna Robotics unveils DYNA-2 robot model trained on 1M hours of human video data

Dyna Robotics has launched DYNA-2, a robot foundation model trained on over 1 million hours of human egocentric video — equivalent to 170 years of continuous experience. The model demonstrates the first human-to-robot scaling law, proving robot performance improves predictably as more human video data is added. DYNA-2 bypasses traditional robotics data bottlenecks by training on video rather than scarce teleoperation data. In high-precision manufacturing tasks, it increased success rates from 20% to 80–90% through pre-training scale alone. The model can adapt to different robot platforms with just hours of fine-tuning. In real-world evaluations, DYNA-2 completed tasks 1.55 times more successfully than the company's previous model, achieving 87% pass rates at customer deployments. Dyna Robotics was founded by Lindon Gao, York Yang, and Jason Ma, backed by investors including CRV and First Round.
