Carvana CEO says AI agents could cut used-car buying friction as Q3 revenue hits $8.04B

Carvana chief executive officer Ernie Garcia says AI agents could cut the hassle of buying a used car. On the company's October 28 earnings call, he said they could find vehicles, value trade-ins, arrange financing, and present a down payment, monthly bill, and delivery options. Buyers would then simply accept or decline. Garcia said the technology could "effectively reduce digital friction to zero while leaving physical friction largely unchanged." Carvana sold a record 217,385 retail vehicles in the third quarter, up 39% year on year. Revenue rose 42% to $8.04 billion, and net income reached $483 million. Adjusted EBITDA hit a record $800 million, though its margin slipped to 10% from 11.3%. Garcia said Carvana holds just over 2% of the used-car market.

Carvana posts record Q3 revenue of $8.04B, but EPS misses consensus

Carvana reported record third-quarter 2026 results, with revenue of $8.04 billion, up from $5.65 billion a year earlier. Net income rose to $289 million from $151 million, and the online used car seller sold 217,385 retail units. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations were $0.39, up from $0.21 but below consensus, even as adjusted EBITDA hit a record. That keeps attention on margins, credit losses, and interest expense. For the first nine months, revenue was $21.85 billion and net income $849 million, against $14.72 billion and $550 million a year before. Carvana also renewed its sponsorship of Phoenix Rising FC.

Carvana posts record Q3 with $8.04B revenue and $800M adjusted EBITDA as unit sales jump 39%

Carvana reported record third-quarter results, with retail unit sales up 39% year on year to 217,385 and revenue up 42% to $8.04 billion. Net income rose to $483 million, up $220 million, despite a one-time $53 million expense tied to early debt redemption. Adjusted EBITDA reached a record $800 million, but its margin fell to 10% from 11.3%. The chief financial officer blamed a shift to higher-priced vehicles and lower customer interest rates. The company refinanced $1.7 billion of senior secured notes, which it expects to cut annual interest expense by about $45 million. It expects fourth-quarter unit sales to rise and 2026 adjusted EBITDA near the high end of its $2.7 billion to $3.0 billion range.

"Rush delivery" might best describe the moves Carvana made this week. In addition to extending its partnership with Rush Soccer (more on that below), the automotive ecommerce platform announced that it would be expanding same-day vehicle delivery to the greater Jacksonville, Fla., area. Through this expansion, select Jacksonville area customers can receive their vehicle the same day they order it on Carvana.com, and local sellers can arrange same-day pickup and drop-off when they complete the Carvana appraisal process. "After serving car buyers and sellers in the Jacksonville area for many years, we're excited to introduce an even faster and more convenient Carvana experience with same-day delivery," said Jacqueline Hearns, Carvana's senior director of market operations and expansion, in a news release. "As we continue expanding our logistics network and regional operations, we're making it easier than ever for eligible customers across Jacksonville to buy or sell a car on their schedule," Hearns said. Carvana launched its same-day delivery service in Arizona and it is now available in select markets throughout 20 states. It plans continue scaling same-day delivery regionally alongside its expansion of national logistics and reconditioning infrastructure. Carvana extends youth soccer partnership. The other move Carvana made this week was just for kicks. The company said Tuesday it has agreed to a multi-year extension of its partnership with Rush Soccer, said to be the largest youth soccer club in the world. Carvana will remain the front-of-kit sponsor on all Rush game jerseys. Additionally, Carvana and Rush are launching a $200,000 youth soccer scholarship fund to help reduce financial barriers for players throughout the league. Applications open Jan. 1 and families can apply through their local Rush club. The league is releasing new, custom-designed team jerseys with Carvana's branding in January. The partnership will continue to include Carvana activations at select Rush events and content collaborations. "Carvana has been an incredible partner from day one, and this renewal takes that commitment even further," Rush Soccer CEO Justin Miller said in a news release. "The scholarship fund helps ensure cost isn't what keeps a kid from playing. Together, Carvana and Rush are setting the standard for what a partnership in youth sports should look like." Carvana co-founder and chief brand officer Ryan Keeton added, "We're proud to continue our partnership with Rush Soccer and expand our support for the players and families who are at the heart of it. We've seen how much being part of a team can mean to young athletes, and we're excited to add the scholarship fund as part of our sponsorship to help more kids get on the field and experience that for themselves."
