Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must maintain an active pharmacy technician registration with the State Board of Pharmacy.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be available outside normal business hours on an ad hoc basis and flexible to work a schedule between 10:00 AM and 10:30 PM Pacific Standard Time.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in written, verbal, and interpersonal interactions with employees, clients, or agency representatives.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities without sacrificing quality, with attention to detail and organization.
- Accurate typing and data-entry skills with good speed.
- Proficiency navigating proprietary and other pharmacy software.
- Ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, and verify data.
- Ability to accurately count, measure, and weigh prescription components, with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong listening and reading comprehension.
- Understanding of clinical terms and their impacts.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Receive electronic prescriptions, weekly batches, and refill requests, and accurately and efficiently fill prescriptions under the Pharmacist's direction.
- Handle, count, mix, and package medications as part of pharmacy tasks.
- Select and import orders for automated dispensing equipment, print labels, and maintain order management for prescription dispensing.
- Operate and monitor robotic machines that dispense medications.
- Assist with minor edits to records to correct dispensing quantities and manufacturer National Drug Code used to dispense prescription orders.
- Prepare blister packs.
- Prepare and stage pharmaceutical supplies and drugs in the correct bins for delivery.
- Perform reclamation duties.
- Use pharmacy software to check and record prescription data.
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs; clean and help maintain equipment and work areas.
- Receive, store, and log inventory and returns with Pharmacist approval; verify quantities against invoices; inform supervisors of stock needs or shortages; monitor expiry dates and rotate stock to prevent dispensing expired products.
- Act as a liaison between customers, providers, and the pharmacy; receive and triage incoming calls and messages to answer questions, fill prescription orders, and handle other requests.
- Establish and maintain patient profiles, including medication lists, and document medication care plans using the proprietary software system.
- Apply pharmacy technician expertise to support compliance, efficiency, and quality of operations.
- Participate in company quality initiatives, identify improvement opportunities, and report quality assurance issues.
- Secure information in accordance with company privacy and security guidelines and applicable regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
- Work rotating holidays as needed; schedules may be adjusted to meet position and organizational needs.
- Travel as required for organization or department events, team meetings, trade shows, conferences, and other client engagements.
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in a pharmacy environment is preferred.
- Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
