Requirements
  • A university degree in computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent qualification, or an IT industry certification with continuous current-technology training.
  • A minimum of three years of progressive experience in information technology and/or the healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of the Engineering and Facility Management industry and of technology systems such as telecommunications infrastructure, cabling, audiovisual systems, building security, and wired and wireless networks.
  • Basic working knowledge of interface and integration methodologies, including HL7, SOAP, Web Services, DICOM, and FHIR; databases such as SQL or Oracle; and programming languages such as PHP, C#, Python, or Java.
  • Working experience with Linux, Windows, virtualization, Active Directory, monitoring tools, cross-functional application integration, and computer hardware and software support and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling and methodology development, and data mapping.
  • Understanding of risk management, privacy, electronic safety, and quality assurance methodologies as they relate to integration and software engineering.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job and work at any Mackenzie Health site.
  • Demonstrated compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures and behavior aligned with Mackenzie Health’s values of Excellence, Leadership, and Empathy.
Responsibilities
  • Work with internal and external teams through all phases of the system lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, solution design, implementation, integration, testing, support, and maintenance.
  • Provide end-user support for non-clinical hospital systems, including Real Time Location Systems, Nurse Call, Staff Duress, Patient Safety, and Patient Engagement systems.
  • Activate and apply Real Time Location System asset tags to equipment and staff, associate tags with devices and staff badges, and change batteries on tags and system hardware components.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and repair or replace devices, including occasionally climbing ladders to reach ceiling- and wall-mounted devices.
  • Provide application support and expertise for integration points between connected hospital systems and building systems.
  • Effectively use empathy in interactions with staff, clients, hospital stakeholders, and external vendors.
