Desired Qualifications
  • Ownership of the top-level CAD model or mechanical configuration for a spacecraft, launch vehicle, aircraft, or similarly complex system.
  • Experience taking a clean-sheet vehicle from conceptual configuration through detailed design, manufacturing, integration, test, and operations.
  • Experience establishing CAD architecture and configuration-management practices for a new vehicle program.
  • Experience with spacecraft cargo or payload accommodation, including internal and external cargo interfaces.
  • Experience performing vehicle-level packaging and configuration trades across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with vehicle mass properties, including component location management, center-of-gravity trades, and configuration-dependent mass properties.
  • Experience defining and managing mechanical Interface Control Documents (ICDs), interface geometry, keep-out zones, and subsystem envelopes.
  • Experience integrating harnessing, fluid lines, avionics, thermal hardware, and other distributed systems within a constrained vehicle envelope.
  • Experience with design-for-assembly, vehicle integration sequencing, ground support equipment, transportation, lifting, and handling.
  • Experience supporting spacecraft or launch vehicle integration and test activities through flight.

About the company

Gravitics designs, builds, and sells space station modules to expand human habitation in orbit. Its flagship module, StarMax, adds 400 cubic meters of usable interior space to a standalone spacecraft, increasing the number of people who can live and work in space. StarMax emphasizes a large interior volume and a safety factor to support human-centric operations. The modules are sold to space agencies, private space companies, and research institutions, with potential ongoing maintenance or upgrade services as part of its model. Compared with competitors, Gravitics differentiates itself by delivering the largest interior volume per module, focusing on safe, human-centered space real estate, and positioning StarMax as a building block for broader space infrastructure in the growing commercial space market. The company aims to be a key supplier in space infrastructure, enabling more extensive and safer human activities in space.

What believers are saying

  • NASA selected Gravitics on August 10, 2026 for a sample-return hangar.
  • Space Force STRATFI funded up to $60 million on March 27, 2026.
  • Philip Wong became CFO on August 3, 2026, strengthening capital strategy before scale-up.

What critics are saying

  • NIMU merger still depends on September 30, 2026 closing, Nasdaq approval, and financing.
  • A failed public offering strands Gravitics without scale capital and kills its listing path.
  • Orbital Carrier and commercial station hardware need flawless execution; one hardware failure destroys credibility.

What makes Gravitics unique

  • Gravitics builds space-station-derived infrastructure, not satellites or launch vehicles.
  • Its StarMax-style modules maximize pressurized volume, targeting human habitation and orbital logistics.
  • Axiom, Space Force, and NASA validate one platform across commercial and defense missions.

Gravitics wins NASA SBIR award for orbital sample return hangar system

Gravitics has been selected by NASA for a 2026 Small Business Innovation Research Phase I award to develop the Multiple-Downmass Hangar. The system is designed to enable affordable and frequent commercial sample return from low Earth orbit. The hangar will hold multiple return vehicles on a single orbital platform, allowing customers conducting research or manufacturing in orbit to bring materials back to Earth on their own schedules. Currently, material return remains a constraint for on-orbit operations. The six-month Phase I effort will focus on establishing the technical merit and feasibility of the concept. The architecture aims to lower the cost of returning mass from orbit and support a regular return cadence for space manufacturing customers. Gravitics designs and manufactures orbital infrastructure and logistics systems for space operations.
