Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years of experience in the commercial construction industry overseeing ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors.
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team, schedule and supervise multi-tasking work, and manage subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • A valid Construction OSHA 30 card, obtained within the last five years or renewed, with recertification every five years per company policy.
  • Proficiency in project reporting software, Microsoft Office, blueprint reading, and Procore.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Proven knowledge of commercial building and construction and related sectors.
  • Experience running all aspects of large commercial projects, including ground-up projects, interior renovations, finish work, and relocation and replacement work on projects valued at $2 million or more.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of on-the-job experience.
  • A high school diploma is the stated minimum; a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or an associate's degree from a vocational school is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites; travel may be up to 75%.
  • Ability to work extended hours to meet project deadlines and work night shifts.
  • Ability to operate an iPad, phone, and other business machines; perform physical work including climbing stairs and ladders, negotiating construction areas, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors at construction sites and use required personal protective equipment and safety gear.
Responsibilities
  • Enforce OSHA compliance and the company safety plan and policies, and advocate for safety.
  • Supervise field construction to ensure projects meet design, budget, schedule, and customer objectives.
  • Conduct weekly on-site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and others regarding schedule, safety, performance, and related matters.
  • Enforce project procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules, and ensure worker health and safety in accordance with company, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Prepare and distribute field reports, including daily superintendent and safety reports, in a timely manner.
  • Complete punch list items within customer requirements and the project budget, using Procore for punch list management.
  • Monitor subcontractor progress and manpower to meet project schedules and customer expectations.
  • Prepare subcontractor work schedules as needed and assist the Project Manager with project construction schedules and updates.
  • Verify layouts or check subcontractor layouts, and establish initial control lines and grades.
  • Respond to subcontractors' questions about project documents and their work, provide documentation, and coordinate with the Construction Manager as appropriate.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, including logistics, means and methods, bid and scope reviews, and project estimates.
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of contract documents on site.
  • Ensure subcontractors maintain record drawings, including red-line as-builts, during construction.
  • Organize, establish, and maintain the on-site field office in a professional condition.
  • Communicate promptly with the Construction Manager about financial issues, safety, construction progress, labor, materials, quality, and code issues.
  • Work harmoniously with Project Managers and other personnel, and coordinate with other Superintendents on larger projects.
  • Manage, oversee, train, and mentor other Superintendent levels.
  • Continue education in OSHA and safety, means and methods, codes, management skills, and new technology.
  • Maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local permitting processes and communicate changes to the office.
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness to company standards.
