Ferring Pharmaceuticals and Gallup announce landmark global public attitudes study on fertility and family-building. Ferring Pharmaceuticals * Ferring Global Fertility Monitor will gather data from a representative sample in 70 countries as a part of the Gallup World Poll * Consultation to gather expert opinion on high impact questions begins this year * The project aims to provide data and evidence to inform demography-related policymaking against a backdrop of total fertility rates dropping below replacement levels in many countries worldwide, with the U.S. reporting its lowest on record in the latest federal data released last week[1] WASHINGTON-BUSINESS WIRE- Ferring Pharmaceuticals and Gallup today announced the Ferring Global Fertility Monitor, a global study on the factors influencing people's fertility choices, at the 2026 Annual Convening of Semafor World Economy. The Ferring Global Fertility Monitor is grounded in the recognition that declining global fertility rates are an increasingly significant public policy topic, with rates already well below replacement level in many countries. Rolled out as part of the Gallup World Poll, it will provide policymakers with robust, globally comparable data on the social, economic, cultural, and structural factors shaping fertility choices. By integrating these insights with people's lived experiences, well-being, and aspirations, the Monitor supports more responsive, inclusive, and human-centred approaches to demographic change. Jean-Frédéric Paulsen, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Ferring Pharmaceuticals, said: "As a company committed to supporting people on their fertility journey, we see the global debate on demographic change as one of the defining issues of our time. Around the world, questions about the future shape of populations are intensifying, yet the data needed to fully understand these shifts, and their implications, remains far too limited. This project has the potential to transform that landscape. By strengthening the global evidence base, we can deepen understanding of what is happening and why, helping governments, health systems and communities plan for a more sustainable future." Jon Clifton, Chief Executive Officer of Gallup, said: "We spend a lot of time debating falling fertility and birth rates, but surprisingly little time asking people why. This initiative changes that, using nationally representative data, collected consistently at a scale no one has attempted before across 70 countries." In 2026, the Ferring Global Fertility Monitor will be developed through an expert consultation and research process designed to identify critical evidence gaps in how fertility decisions are understood across countries. A cognitively tested questionnaire will then enter the 2027 Gallup World Poll and run as a biannual tracker. When complete, the Monitor will represent one of the most comprehensive global data and evidence bases to date on how people think about parenthood, and what helps or hinders them from realising those aspirations. The Gallup World Poll is the world's largest private survey infrastructure, collecting annual data from around 140 countries. All data are nationally representative of the adult population and collected either via face-to-face or telephone interviewing. The World Poll collects data on a wide range of topics, all of which speak to how people's lives are going. About Gallup Gallup delivers analytics and advice to help leaders and organisations solve their most pressing problems. Advancing Graduate flourishing: Grad Resources partners with the Global Flourishing Study. Grad Resources March 27, 2026 Grad Resources is excited to announce that Grad Resources is now an official research partner in the Global Flourishing Study, a landmark longitudinal initiative led by the Harvard University Human Flourishing Program in collaboration with Unite, Baylor University, Gallup, and the Center for Open Science. This collaboration shines a light on Graduate Student well-being data and joins its community with one of the most ambitious research projects on human flourishing ever undertaken. Understanding the Foundations of Human Flourishing The Global Flourishing Study builds on years of research asking a foundational question: Can human flourishing be clearly defined, measured, and supported over time? Early work from researchers connected to the Harvard Human Flourishing Program in 2016 demonstrated that flourishing is not abstract or purely subjective. Instead, it is multidimensional and measurable, shaped by 5 Domains of Flourishing consistently influencing human well-being: 5 Domains of Flourishing * Happiness and life satisfaction * Physical and mental health * Meaning and purpose * Character and virtue * Close social relationships Together, these domains offer a more complete understanding of what it means not simply to succeed, but to live well, and to be well. At Grad Resources, Grad Resources call this flourishing. Pathways That Help People Flourish Beyond identifying the domains of flourishing, researchers also examined how flourishing is cultivated over time. This work highlighted the powerful role that institutions and communities play in shaping long-term well-being. 4 Pathways to Flourishing consistently emerged: 4 Pathways to Flourishing * Family * Work * Education * Religious Community These pathways function together, shaping identity, resilience, and purpose across the lifespan. This insight closely aligns with what Grad Resources has observed for decades: Graduate Students flourish when multiple dimensions of life are supported simultaneously, not in isolation. From Foundational Research to a Global Study With strong evidence that flourishing could be identified within specific communities, researchers asked a broader question: Do these same domains and pathways hold true across cultures and countries worldwide? This question gave rise to the Global Flourishing Study, a five-year, longitudinal research initiative involving more than 200,000 participants across 22 countries and six continents, led by Harvard University in collaboration with global research partners. Early findings suggest that while cultural expression varies, the core components of flourishing remain remarkably consistent across the world - opening the door to identifying practical, evidence-based actions that help communities flourish. This is an excellent addition to Grad Resources portfolio of research, shedding light on the needs of Graduate Students and exploring ways to help them flourish. Why Graduate Students Matter in This Research As the Global Flourishing Study moves from identifying the components of flourishing to applying research insights in practical ways, it is very important to focus on the specific group represented. In the case of the data collected for Grad Resources, Grad Resources is specifically looking at Grad school populations. Graduate Students and their families sit at a unique intersection of education, vocation, faith, and leadership formation. This season of life is often marked by intense pressure, transition, and long-term decision-making - yet Graduate Students are frequently underrepresented in large-scale well-being research. Grad Resources and its partners are specifically working to fill that gap in the research. As a research partner, Grad Resources contributes insights from Graduate Student communities to help ensure that global findings remain grounded in real lived experience. By participating in this research, Graduate Students help researchers better understand how flourishing is shaped during one of life's most formative seasons - and how communities, institutions, and support systems can respond more effectively. Global research recognised for advancing the fight to address modern slavery. The Market Research Society award highlights the importance of accurate data in exposing hidden exploitation. Research strengthens global efforts to understand modern slavery and drive evidence-based action to address it. From left to right, Gallup's Regional Managing Partner EMEA Pa Sinyan, Walk Free's Director of Operations Katharine Bryant, Gallup Managing Consultant Hui Nemeth, and Walk Free's Founding Director Grace Forrest at the 2025 Market Research Society (MRS) Awards. Modern slavery affects millions of people around the world, but it is often hidden and can be challenging to measure. Reliable data is critical to enabling governments, organisations, and communities to implement effective measures to combat exploitation. In response to this challenge, a major international research effort led by Walk Free, Gallup and the International Labour Organization (ILO) has been recognised at the 2025 Market Research Society (MRS) Awards. The award acknowledges the innovative survey methodology behind the Global Estimates of Modern Slavery, using nationally representative data from the Gallup World Poll across 72 countries. The collaborative research effort between the partners has transformed global understanding of one of the most pervasive yet underreported human rights violations. By capturing experiences previously undocumented or overlooked, the estimates offer governments, civil society and international institutions the evidence needed to drive meaningful change. Data insights support monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal Target 8.7 and policy reform. These insights have enabled progress monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal Target 8.7, informed policymaking, catalysed legislative change and sparked global engagement. Most importantly, the research gives voice to millions of people whose experiences were previously hidden, providing a crucial foundation for action against exploitation worldwide. Acknowledging the voices behind global modern slavery estimates and research. The acknowledgement reflected the broader network of experts and institutions contributing to the research foundation behind the Global Slavery Index. "This award reflects our joint commitment to producing rigorous research that deepens understanding of global human rights," Walk Free Founding Director Grace Forrest said. "I want to acknowledge the many thousands of survey participants whose willingness to speak openly about profoundly difficult experiences made this research possible. Their stories are what drive our shared commitment to this work." Over a decade of partnership strengthens global efforts to measure and end modern slavery. Judges commended the project for its scale, complexity and impact, highlighting the collaboration between criminologists, human rights experts and research specialists. The findings have significantly influenced policy development, advanced academic study and elevated public awareness of modern slavery through global media coverage. "This award reflects the power of genuine partnership, and we're grateful for more than a decade of collaboration with Gallup and the ILO," Forrest said. "I'd like to specifically thank the individuals who have contributed to the Global Estimates of Modern Slavery. "Modern slavery is a man-made problem. In the pursuit of measuring its global impact and who is responsible, we truly hope to see an end to it in our lifetime."
[US] majority of workers say their jobs fail 'quality' test. In the US, new research has revealed the high number of people who are employed but not thriving. With 60 per cent of respondents saying that their jobs fall short of what researchers define as "quality employment," and lack essentials such as fair pay and pathways for growth, HR Grapevine reports. Advocacy group Jobs for the Future (JFF) partnered with Gallup, the Families & Workers Fund, and the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research to measure how workers experience their jobs. JFF reportedly contends that traditional government statistics, with a primary focus on wages and employment rates, fail to capture the true health of the labour market. "We recognise that not only has the way we measure the economy not kept up with the way work and the economy is changing, but it has never been sufficient," Molly Blankenship - director of solutions design and delivery at JFF - said. "The workforce is the engine of economic prosperity in the US, and this gives us a better look under the hood." JFF see a quality job meeting five key criteria: fair and stable pay, a safe and inclusive workplace, opportunities for growth, a sense of voice and agency, and a predictable structure. Under this criterion, only 40 per cent of the more than 18,000 workers surveyed stated that they hold quality jobs. The remaining 60 per cent reported significant gaps in stability, pay, or development opportunities. Around 62 per cent of respondents said their work schedules are unpredictable, while roughly one-third reported struggling financially. Only 27 per cent said their pay allows them to feel financially comfortable, while nearly 3 in 10 described themselves as "just getting by" or "finding it difficult to get by." Pay wasn't the only area of concern. JFF found that employees also prioritise respect, safety, and chances for advancement, with about one in four workers saying their jobs offer no promotion or development opportunities. Ms Blankenship reportedly said that these results reflect long-standing structural issues in the economy. "We suspected when we started this work that the majority of Americans were not in jobs that were helping them," she added. "This data confirms what we suspected." The research echoes increasing evidence that suggests job quality, rather than quantity, continues to be a critical measure of workforce health and organisational performance.
