Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience
  • Master ability to adapt to new technologies and processes, and be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Master in problem-solving, with the ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop creative and effective solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with your peers through to senior leaders
  • You should be able to engage and influence others to collect requirements, describe what you’re doing, work through problems, and find productive solutions
  • Self-starter, able to handle ambiguity, navigate uncertainty, identify risks, and find the right people and tools to get the job done
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on platform or service engineering
  • 10+ years of experience working on production systems. You’ll have supported these production systems through on-call rotations
  • Master in building and scaling infrastructure services using Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
  • Master in the understanding of using core cloud application infrastructure services including identity platforms, networking, storage, databases, containers, and serverless
  • Master in fixing large-scale distributed production systems
Responsibilities
  • Design sophisticated software components, services, and platforms. You’ll write design documents and review them with your software engineering and architecture peers, incorporating and quickly iterating on the feedback
  • Own the delivery of your projects to production. You’ll follow standard methodologies including writing high quality code, developing unit, functional, and performance tests, and creating end-to-end deployment pipelines to production to maintain a fast velocity
  • Integrate your software with other distributed systems and shared APIs across bp. You’ll work closely with partner teams to help evolve their systems to make all of our services more re-usable and resilient
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends
  • Hire and develop others by mentoring junior software engineers and peers, and proactively sharing your expertise and interests with others
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of standard methodologies
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to identify and resolve platform-related issues
  • Support internal and external audit teams to prepare for and participate in security, software licensing, and regulatory audits, ensuring that all vital documentation and evidence is available and accurate
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to implement new controls and procedures to address identified compliance gaps or risks
  • Collaborate with other multi-functional teams- product management, data science, UX design, quality assurance, etc. - to design and deliver software that achieves the vision set by the business
  • Lead a team of developers in delivering high quality software that: + Is amenable to changing as the business evolves + Focuses on providing a great customer experience + Is secure and meets all security requirements
  • Establish and communicate goals that support the business vision for the software. Discuss those goals within the team to help align the team and the software to the vision.

BP shares jump 2.1% as Q2 profit surges to $5.7B on oil rally and refining strength

BP's US-listed shares rose roughly 2.1% on Monday after the energy company reported second-quarter underlying replacement-cost profit of $5.7 billion, approximately $2.5 billion higher than the previous quarter and more than double the $2.35 billion earned a year ago. Higher commodity prices, refining, and trading contributed to the results. The company increased its dividend by 4% whilst reducing net debt by roughly $3 billion in the quarter. BP is pursuing divestments targeting $20 billion through 2027, including its US biogas operation Archaea. With Brent crude above $86, BP plans capital expenditure of $13.5 billion to $14 billion this year. At $42.66, the stock trades about 8.4% above its $39.34 GF Value estimate.

BP to acquire Woodside's 70% stake in Trinidad and Tobago Calypso gas project

BP has agreed to purchase Woodside Energy's 70% stake in the Calypso gas project offshore Trinidad and Tobago. The deal, expected to close by the end of 2026 pending approvals, will make BP sole owner and operator of Block TTDAA 14. The transaction includes cash consideration and contingent payments, though specific amounts were not disclosed. Calypso is an early-stage deepwater gas development located approximately 220km offshore in waters around 2,100m deep. Woodside CEO Liz Westcott said the divestment streamlines the company's portfolio. The sale will conclude Woodside's decades-long presence in Trinidad and Tobago. BP already serves as the largest natural gas supplier to Trinidad and Tobago's domestic market and holds a 45% stake in the Atlantic LNG facility.

BP reviewing TravelCenters of America after $1.3B buy as CEO pushes cost cuts

BP's new CEO Meg O'Neill has outlined five priorities for the company, including simplifying its portfolio and strengthening its balance sheet. BP posts four-year profit high as it pulls back from renewables
