Comscore: streaming share of ad-supported televison tops 22%.

Comscore: streaming share of ad-supported televison tops 22%. October 21, 2026 Over the 12 months ending in August, streaming's share of measured television ad exposure climbed from 16.1% to 22.3%, a gain of 6.2 percentage points, according to new data from Comscore. Beginning in February, streaming video accounted for at least one-fifth of measured ad exposure every month, following a plateau of around 19% during the preceding five months. While YouTube and Tubi TV consistently nab the top two spots for share of ad exposure time across streaming providers, the third spot frequently changes hands. In August, Hulu came in third with 8.5%, but the number three spot has been held by Peacock (July, 7.2%), Netflix (June, 8%) and Prime Video (May, 7.4%). This may have been due to Hulu's expansion of its ad-supported streaming catalog in August with a wave of popular films, nostalgic favorites, and acclaimed documentaries. Overall, YouTube led streaming advertising exposure, representing 44.4% of measured streaming ad exposure time, followed by Tubi at 11.6% and Hulu at 8.5%. "The report measures where audiences are actually reachable with advertising and gives brands an understanding of how ad viewership is changing as the media landscape continues to transform," said Kevin Burns, interim chief revenue officer at Comscore. "The report seeks to address the challenge of viewership no longer serving as a sufficient proxy for ad-addressable audiences, as audiences migrate across channels, platforms, and devices." * Comscore: Ad-Supported Household Connected-TV Streaming Increased 21% Comscore Aug. 29 reported a 21% increase in the number of hours streamed by households with connected televisions, rising almost 2 billion hours year-over-year to 11.5 billion through May from 9.6 billion hours in prior-year period. Comscore launches new monthly report highlighting Ad Exposure figures across television viewing platforms.

Comscore launches new monthly report highlighting Ad Exposure figures across television viewing platforms. New report provides transparency into where ads are consumed across linear and streaming channels, revealing a gap between viewership and ad exposure. October 21, 2026 08:00 ET | Source: Comscore, Inc. RESTON, Va., Oct. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Comscore (Nasdaq: SCOR) today launched a new monthly Score Report highlighting Share of Ad Exposure Time trends across television viewing platforms. This important TV measurement metric shows the percentage of total TV Ad Exposure Time attributed to each provider. Beyond viewership, Share of Ad Exposure offers insight into where ads are shown, giving advertisers and content providers the intelligence they need to reach new and varied audiences and to make more informed decisions about their media investments. The report shows that Share of Ad Exposure is highest among broadcast platforms (43.2%) followed by cable (34.5%) and finally streaming (22.3%). This contrasts with viewership trends showing that over 74% of U.S. households stream on Connected TV[1]. Further, 130.6 million U.S. adults used a free or ad-supported streaming video service in the three months prior to August 2026, representing 47% of the total U.S. adult population[2]. Given this gap, while broadcast - with its well-understood formats and measurement - is still favored by many brands, an opportunity exists for advertisers to capitalize on existing and emerging streaming opportunities. Streaming Growth Continues Over the 12 months ending in August 2026, streaming's share of measured television Ad Exposure has steadily climbed from 16.1% to 22.3%, a gain of 6.2 percentage points. Beginning in February, it accounted for at least one-fifth of measured ad exposure every month, following a plateau of around 19% during the preceding five months. Streaming Players Battle Over Ad Exposure Time While YouTube and Tubi TV consistently nab the top two spots for Share of Ad Exposure Time across streaming providers, the third spot frequently changes hands. In August, Hulu came in third with 8.5%, but the number three spot has been held by Peacock (July, 7.2%), Netflix (June, 8.0%) and Amazon Prime Video (May, 7.4%). This may have been due to Hulu's significant expansion of its ad-supported streaming catalog in August 2026 with a wave of popular films, nostalgic favorites, and acclaimed documentaries. Many other providers are following suit, so it is likely that competition for attention will continue to be fierce. Viewership Alone Falls Short of Providing Advertising Insight "The Score Report measures where audiences are actually reachable with advertising and gives brands an understanding of how ad viewership is changing as the media landscape continues to transform," said Kevin Burns, interim Chief Revenue Officer at Comscore. "The report seeks to address the challenge of viewership no longer serving as a sufficient proxy for ad-addressable audiences, as audiences migrate across channels, platforms, and devices." "Nexstar welcomes greater transparency into how advertising reaches audiences across broadcast TV, cable, and streaming," said Dan Lanzano, President, National Ad Sales, Nexstar. "By providing a clearer picture of advertising exposure across platforms, The Score Report delivers valuable insights that empower advertisers to make more informed investment decisions and better understand the evolving media landscape." Summary of Findings from the August 2026 Score Report * In August, broadcast platforms saw the lion's share of ad exposure at 43.2%, followed by cable at 34.5% and streaming at 22.3%. * Ad exposure on streaming is on the rise, shifting from cable. Streaming represented 22.3% of Total U.S. Share of Ad Exposure Time in August, up from 21.9% in July and 21.1% in June. * YouTube led streaming advertising exposure, representing 44.4% of measured streaming Ad Exposure Time, followed by Tubi at 11.6% and Hulu at 8.5%. New editions of The Score Report will be published monthly. The August 2026 report is available at https://core.comscore.com/articles/The-Score-Report/. * Source: Comscore CTV Intelligence(TM), U.S. - August 2026 * Comscore Digital Plan Metrix Multi-Platform, Base: P18+, Standard Target: Free or ad-supported streaming video services (streaming video services/last 3 mo) - August 2026 About Comscore Comscore is a trusted global partner for planning, activating, and evaluating media across platforms. Tubi teases R.L. Stine's "The Babysitter" Film.

Tubi teases R.L. Stine's "The Babysitter" Film. Sunday, October 11th 2026 4:43 pm Tubi has confirmed it will release "The Babysitter," a live-action film adaptation of "Goosebumps" and "Fear Street" author R.L. Stine's popular novel series first published in 1989. The story follows a 16-year-old babysitter, Jenny, who is so desperate to earn enough money for a prestigious writing program that she takes the job despite a prowler terrorising girls across town. But when she starts receiving threatening phone calls and a dangerous fugitive surfaces in town, Jenny's suspicion of those around her grows. Meanwhile, danger begins closing in. A brief concept teaser was revealed for the title at its New York Comic Con panel where Stine appeared alongside Tubi's Chief Content Officer Adam Lewinson, "Pumpkinhead" writer-director Jem Garrard, and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars' contestant Jimbo. Lewison says in a statement: "With The Babysitter, one of R.L. Stine's most iconic novels, we're delivering a fresh, fun thrill ride for longtime fans and a whole new generation." Garrard will write and executive produce the film, which Trevor Calverley will direct. Dan Bernard, Yvonne Bernard, Tebogo Maila, Darren Cameron and Adam Friedlander produce. A 2027 release is planned. Tubi recently announced another Stine adaptation, "Afraid of Clowns" which is based on "The Nightmare Hour". Garrard pens and directs that film.

Tubi releasing The Babysitter movie from R.L. Stine in 2027.

Tubi releasing The Babysitter movie from R.L. Stine in 2027. By Alejandra García - October 11, 2026 Tubi's next Final Girl is here. The streamer is set to release a live action adaptation of The Babysitter, based on the popular series of R.L. Stine novels first published in 1989, in 2027. The film's announcement comes just two days after the Oct. 9 release of Pumpkinhead 2, and ahead of the streamer's New York Comic Con panel, where Stine appeared alongside Tubi's Chief Content Officer Adam Lewinson, Pumpkinhead writer-director Jem Garrard, and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars' contestant and Afraid of Clowns star Jimbo. The film follows a 16-year-old babysitter, Jenny, who is so desperate to earn enough money for a prestigious writing program that she takes the job despite a prowler terrorizing girls across town. But when she starts receiving threatening phone calls and a dangerous fugitive surfaces in town, Jenny's suspicion of those around her grows. Meanwhile, danger begins closing in. Produced by Blue Ice, Garrard will write and executive produce the film, which Trevor Calverleya will direct. The Babysitter will be executive produced by Lance Samuels, Joan Waricha, Jane Stine and Garrard. Producers include Dan Bernard, Yvonne Bernard, Tebogo Maila, Darren Cameron and Adam Friedlander. "R.L. Stine has an incredible ability to tell stories that are scary, fun and endlessly entertaining, and that combination continues to connect with Tubi viewers," said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer, Tubi. "With The Babysitter, one of R.L. Stine's most iconic novels, we're delivering a fresh, fun thrill ride for longtime fans and a whole new generation." The Babysitter not only marks the fourth film in an ongoing partnership between the streamer and the prolific children's horror author, but also the first not based on a short from Stine's Nightmare Hour or Haunting Hour anthologies. Check out the teaser, which The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively share, below. First published in 1989, The Babysitter and its three sequels - The Babysitter II (1991), The Babysitter III (1993), and The Babysitter IV (1995) - were pivotal in defining Stine as a preeminent horror and children's author. The original book followed the same 16-year-old Jenny, who begins receiving threatening calls and notes after taking on a babysitting gig, before she discovers the threat is coming from inside the house. The second and fourth books follow Jenny as she attempts to recover in the immediate aftermath of the first book's events, and years later as she faces her disturbing past and another terrorizing babysitting experience. The third installment pivots slightly, focusing more on the experiences of Debra, who is haunted and hunted in the same way as her cousin, Jenny. Tubi also recently announced a third Stine adaptation, Afraid of Clowns, based on The Nightmare Hour short and previously developed as a Haunting Hour (2010) episode. Written and directed by Garrard, the film, also set to release in 2027, stars Frankie Honey, Ava Ferrer, Azriel Dalman, Joe Moore and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars winner Jimbo, and is teased at the end of Pumpkinhead 2. The next entry in the Redhaven saga, Afraid of Clowns, sees the arrival of a mysterious clown troupe led by Ringmaster Rollo. A young resident, Frankie, begins to suspect they're connected to the disappearance of a child years earlier, and in an effort to protect her brother, works to convince her friends to help stop the clowns before her sibling vanishes forever. Pumpkinhead 2 is currently streaming on Tubi. The new era of interactive journalism
