Requirements
  • Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Architecture, or a job-related field of study.
  • Three years of work-related experience in maintenance management, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • A valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Successful completion of a security clearance check.
  • Ability to use a personal computer effectively.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to operate equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, and lifting.
  • Ability to work in varying conditions, surroundings, and weather conditions.
  • Ability to work with juveniles who may have committed dangerous or aggressive acts and tolerate an emotionally demanding and stressful work environment.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate construction management facilities projects supporting Dallas County operations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external staff, contractors, and consultants, including architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and other parties, in support of construction management functions.
  • Provide reports and updates to executive staff, including Commissioners Court Administration and the Office of Budget and Evaluation, and to external entities such as related work groups and agencies, the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, and the Department of Justice, as needed for maintenance and construction projects.
  • Assist with establishing project scope, developing milestone schedules and cost estimates, and determining the need for outside professional services.
  • Assist with interviewing outside consultants and contractors, bidding, negotiating and preparing contracts, and executing contracts.
  • Assist with reviewing and approving the planning, scheduling, design, and construction of projects, as well as the purchase and installation of furniture and installation of telecommunications and data equipment.
  • Manage Dallas County staff activity or coordinate with external staff during project-related planning, design, construction, purchasing, and installation activities.
  • Stay current with technology, available products, service materials, methods, opportunities, trends, and problems.
  • Supervise associated Dallas County maintenance staff related to facilities maintenance and construction projects when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
