Machine Shop Supervisor
About the job
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment is required.
- Strong computer numerical control machining experience, including machine setup and quality inspection, is required.
- Ability to read and use tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools is required.
- Ability to motivate, coach, and hold employees accountable is required.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills are required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Basic math skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities is required.
- Willingness to take a hands-on approach and assist with production as needed is required.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk and/or hear is required; occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds is required.
- Supervise the daily operations of the machine shop to ensure production goals, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved.
- Assign work to machine shop employees and monitor productivity throughout the shift.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members while promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Perform computer numerical control machine setups and inspect parts to verify quality and adherence to specifications.
- Monitor production throughout the shift and communicate production updates through end-of-shift reports.
- Ensure employees follow company safety policies, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Identify and resolve production issues quickly to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned to support business needs.

EMS, a value-added aluminium distributor and portfolio company of Wynnchurch Capital, has acquired American Metals Supply (AMS). Financial terms were not disclosed. Tampa-based AMS has operated for 25 years, distributing aluminium products for residential, commercial, patio and industrial applications across the United States. The acquisition expands EMS's geographic reach and capabilities across key end markets. This marks EMS's seventh acquisition since Wynnchurch purchased the company in October 2019. Headquartered in Lake Worth, Florida, EMS now operates more than 20 distribution and manufacturing facilities totalling nearly two million square feet. Kevin Gonzalez, AMS's CEO, said the company is excited to accelerate its growth trajectory with EMS. Foley & Lardner acted as legal adviser to EMS and Wynnchurch.
