Requirements
  • Previous experience in workers' compensation case management or related work as a paralegal, legal secretary, or legal assistant.
  • Familiarity with EAMS/WCAB procedures, PQME scheduling, filing declarations of readiness, and organizing medical records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple cases effectively, track deadlines, and follow up on medical reports, lien settlements, and treatment plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and empathetically to clients.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • One to two years of experience in case management, legal assistant work, or a related field within workers' compensation or personal injury law.
  • Familiarity with California Workers' Compensation procedures, including Department of Workers' Compensation forms, qualified medical evaluator scheduling, and authorization workflows.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the entire case lifecycle from new file intake to final resolution and ensure all case milestones are met.
  • Assist the handling attorney with case management and strategy and act as a liaison between clients, medical providers, and insurance companies.
  • Prepare, file, and serve workers' compensation documents while maintaining compliance with legal requirements.
  • Schedule clients' medical appointments, including qualified medical evaluator and agreed medical evaluator evaluations, and ensure records and reports are accurately filed and organized.
  • Communicate case updates proactively to clients, address their concerns, and keep them informed throughout the process.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure relevant documentation is accessible to the team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of lien negotiations or treatment coordination workflows.
  • Experience using legal case management software.
