Requirements
  • Stick welding experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license with no accidents or traffic violations in the last five years is required.
  • The ability to pass drug screening is required.
  • The ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions is required.
  • The ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift 50 pounds, and sit or drive for extended periods is required.
  • The ability to perform accurate, knowledgeable, detailed work is required.
  • The ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive hand motions for extended periods is required.
  • The ability to lift 5 to 50 pounds frequently and 50 to 100 pounds occasionally is required.
  • The ability to work overtime, including evenings and Saturdays as needed, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Train toward on-road axle surgeon repairs, including spindle replacement, spider plate replacement, and king pin sleeving.
  • Perform repair-order work efficiently and accurately according to dealership and factory standards.
  • Repair and maintain heavy- and medium-duty trucks according to dealership and factory specifications.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag job parts when work is under warranty or when requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine whether further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with the service advisor or dispatcher when additional work is needed, listed work is unnecessary, or repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Keep vehicles and the shop area clean, and report changes to a vehicle's appearance or condition.
  • Maintain and account for dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and condition.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous-waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know requirements.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely.
  • Report safety issues immediately to management.
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technician experience is preferred but not required.
  • On-the-job training and in-shop trailer repair development training are provided when scheduling requires it.
